Indian Sukhoi 30 MKIs
Suffering Multifunctional
Display Failures; India
Complains To Russia

India's fleet of Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft are suffering multiple failures of its cockpit display system, if leaked documents are to be believed. According to a communiqué between HAL and Irkut Corp dated 28 February 2014, the MC-1 or Mission Computer 1 and the head- up display (HUD) of the Su-30MKI has recorded "multiple cases of repeated failure". HAL, in its letter, says all head-up displays and multi-functional displays on the Russian fighter repeatedly "blanked-off" and that it has reached out to the Russians including Vladimir Lagutkin, Dy. Chief of Division, Rosoboronexport and V A Borodich, Senior VP of Military Aviation Project at Irkut Corp as well as O D Pankov, Chief Designer at the Sukhoi Design Bureau for remedial measures. The letter also states that HAL had reached out to the Russian side on at least two occasions in March and April '13 but had received no response in return.

The documents were stolen by a group calling itself the 'Russian Cyber Command' (RCC) who launched an attack on the Indian embassy's network systems in Moscow in an effort to steal some 1000 documents concerning Rosoboronexport's dealings with India and other countries which import arms from Russia. It is not clear if the display problems referred to by HAL are in reference to the SU-30s imported from Russia or the later ones which were licence- manufactured by HAL with the display systems and other electronics sourced from international vendors.

Before somebody starts a Russia-bashing spree, it would be prudent to note that the HUDs come from Israel and MC-1 was designed and made by HAL.

They will not give their Newer Fighter Bombers to us ..But they will give to China

Better we Should Try for Some Tu 22 MR ..to Carry Some LGB's and Two BrahMos Cruise Missile

Bombers are not feasible in India-Pakistan conflict due to geographical proximity and tight enemy air defence where by multi-role fighters like MKI and Rafale will be needed to penetrate enemy air defence, hence it will be logical to use them only as bomb trucks instead of having them escort a bomber.
Also in case of war IAF has marked about 5000 targets most of which are static and fast moving fighters are better in taking them down.

I think the Tu 22MR is very useful to take out their ships and Industry Complexes and Power Stations ..where The Tu 22 armed with some 10x500KG bombs in center Pylon along with two Brahmos Cruise Missiles under wing

Tu-22MR will be highly venerable HQ-9 and RBS23 air defence systems. USAF also uses bombers only after completely neutralizing enemy air-defenses except for B2.
Industry Complexes in Pakistan seriously dude

I believe PAK FA will be first developed and after attaining desired level of development/maturation FGFA project will be forked.

We need One blackjacks squadron equipped with long range brahmos and nirbhays in China's context. Su-34 is also doable option.

Lets come to the Reality ..Here everyone Knows that Russia have only 11 to 16 Operational Tu 160 Blackjacks and No Production Line of Tu 160 Nowadays ..also there is no chance they will sell their Strategic Bombers to us

In case of Su 34 .They will not Export it untill 2016 If so They only gives it China then they mass Produced them ..So Option of One squad against mass Squad of Chinese Su 34

That's why I jumped to Tu 22 MR ..while it have no Production lines .But they will sell to their Tu 22 to us ..By Upgrading Newer Electronics And radar .It posses some Threats to our Good Neighbors

To deter China Tu-22/M are not good enough. For Paki context it may do but Tu-22s are obsolete and maintenance is going to be a Big Headache. Practically customised Su-34s are the only feasible alternative as long range bombers. IMO we need three squadron of the same. One Squadron exclusively for INS Baaz at Triservice command at Andaman & Nikobar.

No. It will happen together. Both developments are related.

PAKFA will undergo development in two stages while FGFA will directly jump to the stage 2 version. First flight of FGFA was said to be this year, so we need to see when it will actually happen.

Naturally, news about the first flight will only come on the day it will fly or a few days before it, we just have to wait patiently. The R&D contract is yet to be signed, but work has already started without paperwork being complete. It highlights the maturity of Sukhoi-HAL relations. So that indicates there won't be any major delays for first flight.
