How do you know that ??

well we left the program because few idiots here were giving priority to make in India as compare to national security & russia was not giving us TOT .
Do you think IAF decides on the basis of forum discussions?
FGFA was cancelled because there was nothing which Russians could offer as TOT. 5th gen planes are built from scratch, not with upgrades. There were lots of shortcomings in FGFA like compromised stealth because of visible engine blades through air intakes. FGFA is a full metel plane unlike proposed AMCA. No working AESA is available with Russians yet. Proposed engine Item 30 is still in developmental stage and will take atleast 10 years to be tested and inducted.
And there is no 5.5 generation plane in the world yet. There are only two 5th gen planes f22 and f35 and how good F35 is can be imagined as Turkey has decided to go with s400 system knowing the fact that they will be denied to get F35.

Uttam is supposed to have 700+ trms....is the range of Uttam supposedly better than that of 2052 that might go on Mk1A?

Do you know of the actual range of 2052 that's in consideration for Mk1A?
I don't know what is the range of 2052(as it is classified) what I know is that it is not designed to fit in the Tejas while uttam is,uttam's backend and front end are designed with in the space limitations of the Tejas so a radar designed especifically for a type should perform better than a juggad like 2052 on Tejas . Where ever it's performance stands is only answereble when it is in use of the type else UTTAM is better option(as per say hardware) as it is designed within the space limits while ELM2052 will downsized from the original which was designed to fit in the American/israeli origin aircrafts. Latest I know the 90 percent of the a2a performance was achieved by this year Feb and they may certify the a2a modes within this year on UTTAM.

Russian official confirms talks to sell 21 MiG-29 fighters to IAF
Nearly seven months after Indian and international media outlets reported that the Indian Air Force was planning to “urgently” buy 21 MiG-29 fighters, the CEO of the aircraft's maker has confirmed negotiations are being held.

Ilya Tarasenko, CEO of the MiG Aircraft Corporation, was speaking to mediapersons during the MAKS airshow at Zhukovsky near Moscow on Wednesday. Tarasenko was quoted by Russia's state-run TASS news agency as saying “The request [from India] is at the stage of negotiations.”

In February, multiple Indian publications, including The Times of India, Business Standard and Hindustan Times, reported that the Indian Air Force was looking for an “emergency shipment” of 21 MiG-29 fighters from Russia to make up for falling squadron strength.

The Indian Air Force was the first non-Warsaw Pact nation to receive the MiG-29 in 1986. The MiG-29 was designed as a short-range air superiority fighter, meant to shoot down enemy aircraft at both short-range and beyond-visual range. It is significantly lighter and smaller than the Sukhoi Su-30MKI. In addition to the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy has purchased 45 units of a version of the MiG-29 to operate off the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier.

The Indian Air Force purchased 78 MiG-29 fighters since the 1980s and the fleet currently totals over 60 aircraft. Three squadrons operate the MiG-29. In 2009, the Indian Air Force began an upgrade of its MiG-29 fleet to equip it with new electronics, radar and the capability to fire air-to-ground weapons. The upgraded MiG-29, referred to as the MiG-29UPG, also has a distinctive 'hump' behind the cockpit for a large fuel tank to boost its range.

According to the media reports in February, the Indian Air Force is eyeing MiG-29 fighters that were built in the late 1980s by the Soviet Union. The Times of India reported that these aircraft had not flown in Soviet service and had been 'mothballed' and kept in storage due to shortage of funds.

Aviation International News, a trade publication reporting on defence and commercial aviation, reported in February that the Narendra Modi government had granted preliminary approval to a ministry of defence request to buy the 21 MiG-29 jets at a cost of $847 million (approximately $40 million per aircraft). The publication noted that a MiG-29 bought from Russian stocks would cost “three times below what Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) charges for a freshly assembled Sukhoi Su-30MKI and five times below the reported cost for a Rafale”.

The 21 MiG-29 jets are expected to be upgraded by the Indian Air Force to the MiG-29UPG standard. In addition to their lower purchase cost, another advantage in buying the MiG-29 is the fact that Indian Air Force would find it easy to induct the aircraft into service quickly as pilots, technicians and other ground crew are already familiar with the fighter.

IAF Looks To Buy 33 MiG-29, Sukhoi 30 Fighter Jets To Boost Squadron Strength
Indian Air Force (IAF) is looking to acquire 33 new combat aircraft including 21 MiG-29s and 12 Sukhoi 30s.

According to a ANI report, IAF is pushing a proposal for these aircraft to boost its fighter squadron strength. The proposal is likely to be taken up before a high-level meeting of the Defence Ministry in the next few weeks, the report said quoting government sources.

The 12 Su-30 MKIs are being planned to be inducted for replacing the number of aircraft lost by the Air Force in different accidents, they said.

The 12 additional Sukhois will help the Indian Air Force to maintain its fleet of 272 Su-30MKI fighters.

India had placed orders for 272 Su-30 fighter jets over a period of 10-15 years in different batches and senior officers feel that the number of planes acquired so far would be enough for the service's heavy-weight aircraft requirement.

The 21 MiG 29s that the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire are from Russia which has offered to sell these planes to help the Air Force to meet its requirement of new fighters.

Meanwhile, India and France held NSA-level talks on Thursday. The discussion related to sell 36 more Rafale fighter jets to India, was one of expected topics.

These talks took place amid reports that France is interested in bagging procurement order for another batch of 36 more. A leading daily had reported that France wants to sell 36 more Rafale jets to India apart from other defence equipment like helicopters for the Navy.

I wonder what's stopping IAF from negotiating with Qatar and Oman for their Mirage 2000-5s.

Cz theres no other option , when u getting Rafale ,why crave for m2000s
Way better than mothballed Mig29s. We used Mirage 2000s for the recent Balakot strikes, and also for CAPs over J&K.

We were actually in agreement with to buy these jets in 2005-6 when the then Air chief Tyagi (subsequently put in jail) screwed the negotiations by low balling.

SU-30MKI in current status will be no match for upgraded F-16s which Pakistan will eventually get. Even current PAF F-16 block 52 pose serious threat to SU-30. AIM-120 C-5 can outrage R-77 and F-16 possesses more advanced EW suite (AN/ALQ-211(V)9 AIDEWS). Combine this with Link16 datalink and SAAB AEW&C, F-16 becomes a formidable challenge.

Who is this joke......................
He is an American diehard who think f-14 tomcat TOPGUNS beating a generation behind planes will continue forever and TOPGUN like FULLY AMERICAN MOVIES WILL CONTINUE COMING.
Can't accept sukhois beauty, what to say.
He want to say su-30 mki was brought down in balakot but can't say it knowing everybody here will then start asking meaningful questions to him.
This thinking of pakistani military superiority over Indians in American mindset don't know when it will end.

That's why on 26th.
Su - 30mki was outnumbered by huge margin 5 amram fired still failed to kill even one su-30. Lol lol lol.
Flying duck. More than 20 jets of Pakistan mostly having F-16 still failed to kill even single good jet just manged to shot one vintage mig-21 . Do you know what 20 su-30mki in a package can do?
We will use F-16 for target practices with our s-400 :pound:
