Rafale was already a completely developed Jet still Indian Government negotiated a Lot .
while Pak-fa is yet not fully developed , new Engines are yet to be developed , Internal weapon bays are not developed , Weapon integration is not done .
So Government is waiting .
officially this project is not rejected .............and we dont know what is Going on behind the curtains .
if we want 50% Indian components then we will have to develop all the Avionics , AESA , EW suites etc ourselves ( before 2025 which is possible ).
India has avionics, EW suite and is developing AESA. Sensor fusion will also be implemented as that involves more of software development into the avionics than additional hardware. What India wants is engine technology, stealth, AESA and seekers for BVR. Even AESA and seeker may be developed with Israel. It appears that India is already moving ahead with ELTA to develop AESA with GaN technology and seeker technology appears to have been given by Israel. So, unless Russia gives either of engine, stealth or something else which is crucial to India, it is unlikely that Modi will buy FGFA.

The question is why Russia did not agree to develop Kaveri engine or give anything away in return for FGFA? Even if Russia agrees to simply support the manufacturing process of many parts within India to fasten defence manufacturing, it would have been far better terms for India to approve

IAF was impressed by performance of french jets (Dassault Mirage 2000) so France was involved from the Beginning ...........but they stopped the consultancy after pakhran -2 nuclear tests and sanctions because of that Kaveri Engine project & LCA both were was delayed .

Russia was not involved in the Project .

Russia was not involved in the Project .
Consultancy is not the reason for Kaveri to be delayed. It was only in 1999 that Kaveri development was given a push by Vajpayee. The Kaveri till then was only a concept and not even design was started till then. Where did Pokhran come from?

Will you please share the exact timeline for IOC & FOC for Su-57 with @Vijyes
Su-57 LRIP-1 (12 planes, a squadron) starts in January 2018 and completely delivers in mid 2019.
The first full scale production order for 48 pieces in 2020 with first squadron IOC in 2020-2021.

All the systems except Item 30 engines are ready and serially produced including radar, ESM/ECM suit and 10 new types of weapons from 14 planned.

If any fighter receives its serial designation (like Su-XX) then it means it is ready and has production configuration and quality.

So waiting for Item 30 only.

With 2 external fuel tanks (3000 liters each) and 2 internal detachable tanks in MWBs (1800 liters each).

This is a wonderful range!
Su-57 has 4000km range on internal fuel (10200kg).
Bearing in mind that jet fuel has 2-3 times less density than water (which liter weights 1kg), 10000 liters is not so big addition for encreasing range up to 6750km despite the fact that 2 3000 liters drop tanks have their own drag :)

Density of kerosene is 81% of water. Kerosene is same as ATF (ATF is slightly more refined). So, jet fuel doesn't have less than 50% density of water

JP-2 and JP-6 have 30% density of water, because they are technically not a kerosene...

Anyway, additional 10000 liters are quite adequate for encreasing a range by half.

10000 litres is 8ton of weight. No petroleum liquid fuel has density lower than 70% of water. Petrol has 74% of density of water. JP-2 or any other jet fuel is nothing but kerosene refined upto a certain extent. Adding 8ton of weight is not meaningful at all. If we have to consider the weight of the can cylinder too, that is more weight

Russia use JP-2 only because of higher freezing point , not for performance. It is a ww2 development and as of now counted as obsolete.

JP-6 Density is 0.7848631kg/liter

It's just an example of density, nothing more.
Russians use Deciline instead of kerosene in cruise missiles, btw :)

it is not just an example of Density.
It is the standard Density of JP-6 jet fuel at 15 degree Celsius

That is well known. Su-57 is same as T50. There was never a doubt regarding the fact that T50 is being redesigned to be FGFA. That was also the reason India had problems with negotiating. If it was a aircraft built from scratch, then it was obvious that India would have liked to share equal work load and technology.

Since it is an adjusted T50, Russia is unwilling to share Technology with India as it is developed by them alone and India is not willing to take an item at the mercy of Russia
