Paint is applied over the RAM so you cannot see the RAM.It acts as a protective covering .
No.
Paint is a topcoat - dielectric compound that smoothens connection points of the pannels made from different materials. It is done to make plane electrodynamically seamless.
RAM is not outside the skin but skin contains RAM tiers and fillers in the glue matrix.

Here the question is about dark paint, not paint as such. Early Stealth planes like Night Hawk and SR-71 were used for reconnaissance purposes at night. Dark coat imparted considerable visual stealth even to night vision binoculars. Stealth planes are pressed into service at night even now. May be this is the reason most are black or dark gray. J-20 of China is painted yellow. Russian stealths are also light colored.

Country flag
Even F-16s have Grey paints, and so do F-15 and F/A-18
Grey is low visibility paint, easily blends with black, But then if a plane is flying at its ceiling (55000 ft) binoculars are not going to be useful, just radar

As I understand, the earlier Dreadnoughts ships were metallic, with almost no colour on them, and when it came to colour, there was the disruptive pattern (camouflage) which sometimes made it difficult to know which ship it is)

But then one conflict was decisive, it was Japanese fleet vs Russian fleet (pre WW2) where the Japanese ships were painted Ocean grey and the russian fleet in disruptive colours, and when it was low light, the japanese ships automatically blended in the environment, and the Russian ships stood out, resulting in decisive victory for japanese and that too with lesser nos of ships. Grey is a low visibility colour but not for all seasons.

Su-30 MKI and Tejas and rather most planes of IAF are also painted in the same grey colour.

American early stealth jets were painted with special ferrite paint ("Iron Ball") which is black.

For those who wondered what's this and what is it for:

No, it's not SRAAM IR seeker window in fast side bay :)
It is 101KS-P (Pilotazhnaya) - pilots night/AW instrumental flight augmentor like this, but bispectral:

Pilot can fly without NVG using ZSh-10 HMDS for visualization:

just came across an article spreading misinformation and painting this magnificent T-50 aircraft in poor light.i Think journos and millitary critics are being paid - Hitman Job has started against this Stealth plane..

But according to Indian air force officials, in practice the Sukhoi-made stealth jet is also too expensive, poorly engineered and powered by old and unreliable engines.

The Indians’ complaints illustrate the yawning gulf between stealth warplane design and the actual production of radar-evading jets. In other words, it’s one thing to sketch an advanced warplane on paper. It’s quite another to build one and get it to work

But that hasn’t stopped the Indian air force from voicing its unhappiness with the T-50. According to transcripts of December and January meetingsobtained by Business Standard, air force and defense ministry officials listed at least four “shortfalls … in terms of performance and other technical features”:

The AL-41F engines currently fitted to the T-50 are unreliable. The radar is inadequate. The airframe is poorly built, with serious implications for the jet’s stealth profile. And in light of these defects, $6 billion is too much to pay up front.

But the allegations of sloppy construction appear to be particularly serious. Besides posing an accident risk, low-quality construction can result in gaps and mismatched angles that elevate a plane’s radar signature.
when this craft is almost ready.. ppl like DAVID AXE hav started doing propagand against this beauty. any idea about the author of the article..

What are those "experts" who have humanitarian education or even haven't any?
Who are those "experts" who mislead planes from each other and doesn't understand the subject they criticize?
I have a great idea for them and about them in George Carlin's style:
Fuck them!
Fuck them for the fucking fuck!

i just checked about the author .. He is an american millitary expert..So his dissatisfaction now seems obvious...No NATO country media will write prose about this T-50.What surprised me was - He in his article - stated that Indian air force officers are not happy about this plane and have complains about it.. He hadnt mentioned name of any officer and went on his monotone fictional story about this craft which hasnt finished yet..

Journos like these are misquoting Indian officer..and clearly want to create an environment where a common indian will think this plane is trash..i Bet in coming days NATO will pay Indian defence expert to do proganda agaisnt this plane on sold out TV channels like NDTV n others. and with kick back they will force gvt to buy some Trashy overpriced NATO stealth fighter..
