India has always lived with and infact celebrated Sub culturism. Sub culture is any social identity which finds a separate geographical presence. For example, there are cultural differences between Marathas inhabiting Maharashtra or Tamils in Tamil Nadu or Sikhs in Punjab. These different ethnicities cause faultlines within the society which is a cause of friction and creates opportunities for internal security threats to take birth. Here we should keep the discussion limited to Hindu society as the Non Hindu ethnicities anyways do not identify themselves with Bharat and are a cause of internal friction since time eternity.
One of the prime reason for this facet of Indian society's internal fragmentation was the reorganisation of states on lingustic basis. The language barrier has been retained and only emboldened in all these years after independence.
What can be the ways to reduce ethnic faultlines and the negate the impact of sub culturism that pervades the country is the objective of this thread.
