Anti-India politics is still there even though we don't have a direct military presence in Sri Lanka. If India doesn't have a direct military engagement with the civilian population I don't think there will be a significant backlash.I agree keeping china out is important and we can't allow a cuba like situation.
But we don't need our direct presence there.
Maybe a listening post or sensors at most.
Deploying offensive hardware and men is not necessary.
Do you want to give fodder to anti india politics there?
An expansion of the Trilateral Secretariat of India, Sri Lanka & Maldives could be used as a medium for full time military deployment of Indian assets in Sri Lanka. Establishing India as a net security provider for these Island nations.
Our position will be strengthened by the billions of dollars of credit line that India has provided over these years.
