add Mauritius also. the presence and any goodwill gesture by non hindus inhabitant is viewed hostile by the rest of the population. The rise of India has caused concern for many in the region. Imagine if India sustain this course what will be the situation in next 25years :)
Trend need to look into, as India rising neighbors become more failure state.

Is china playing out this.

there is a lobby in our neighbourhood which planted themselves deeply during congress rule, who constantly churn out “expert opinion” that any friendly overture towards India is equivalent to becoming vassal state of India. since we don’t invest in strategic messaging, this opinion continues to come up. Modi govt did try to overcome this by spending a lot of money in the neighbourhood, but the “vassal state” sentiment persists.

who is responsible for planting this “vassal state” sentiment is debatable, could be US, china or even Pakistan.
a sample of how this plays out

Countries like Nepal and Srilanka tries to monkey balance with China and India. Now Srilanka got the taste what if they relies too much on China ( Useless Projects and Debt) and Nepal ( Everything stopped when China intrude into them). Nepal silently escaped from one demon(China) to another demon(USA) don't know what new things going to come.

Jihadi vultures showing up to destroy the host nation any time there's trouble.

Abe yaar its not simple as that....Tumko kya lagata he jaishankar ko koi kaam nahi Jo kisi bhi bhi aandu paandu se milega...Lanka is going through natural consequences of its past political choices...And our utmost priority is that lanka doesn't end up becoming problem for us in foreseeable future So we'll keep giving enough oxygen to system so it doesn't totally collapse ...baki ye sab protest drama to chalta rahega but Lanka has to go through this painful phase someday or later...Lanka has seen worst than what's happening now..India aur Lanka me raajneeti to 2000 saal se chal rahi he..

It was a while ago

Sri Lanka has made a new demand of $2.5 billion from China: a $1 billion loan and a $1.5 billion credit line

All built on shaky foundations, once you are bankrupt all your social security and whatever you built collapse. No money means best mind will flee, your pension etc kaput creating distress and discontent in the society. How are those indicators that you listed maintain or improve with current situation. Either India provides more money or China waives off debt, the latter will not happen.

Which is why the freebies of state and central govr should not go beyond unsustainable level.

Everything reduced to dust.
13+hours power cut.
Completely destroyed agro industries.
Inflation at records high.

What is the use of $4095 income when they can't buy food, fuel and their income becoming useless due to inflation?

Members are pointing out the unsustainable fashion in which Srilanka operates and currently in this situation where none of the above points will not impact them.

Reminds me of my childhood summer vacations at my native place in kerala where we all cousins used to get together.

We had a "well off" relative. He and his family of 2 kids used to come always by air from Bombay to Coimbatore and then take an Ambassador taxi to our interior village home. Always made a point of travelling by air only (this is early to mid 80s). Kids well dressed in latest fashion, speaking convent english, wore shiny clothes, eating appam, puttu and stew with fork and spoon. Used to give us rich chocolates as gifts. We kids of other relatives felt envious. They were so much better than us. Sigh.

Years passed. Heard the "uncle" was arrested for some shady business. Spent many years in jail. Wife divorced and took children away. Younger daughter eloped with a muslim. Son became a drug addict and remains to this day without a steady job. He bought shame to our family. My great uncle (head of family) disowned him.

I just remembered this story.

EAM Manspreading indicates big balls - figuratively ofcourse.

The drunken lankan idiots who elected a street thug must be made to bow low and take a load up their backsides for every $ they get from us.

This is a perfect chance for clearing the tamil settlement issue. However must be done a step at a time, with atmost precision and care.

Seems like EAM will do a big push, hopefully.

How does BJP gain by settling the tamil issue today?

That's a fish to be fried when the stars are aligned in our favour.
