Nibe is in talks with sig sauer for sig 716 for Indian army
Sigs over AKs' anytime when they're both costing almost the same to the exchequer but expect more Israeli small arms given their JV with Adani who has significant clout in BJP's decision making. Also, SF like Marcos and Garuds are bound to get Arads based on recent reports

Think SSS and LMT jv broke off before they came out with the AR design weapons
Because SSS wanted to own the IP and not restricted by US's ITAR norms. Here's a statement from SSS's CEO a few years ago

However, despite LMT being a great firm, we realized early on that their US roots and ITAR compliance would keep us dangling with the promise of a bounty that could very well be a damp squib instead

Also, there's no small arms designer in India proficient in designing a decent AR platform nor a private testing facility back then. We've seen the absolutely horrific designs produced by ARDE or various OFBs' which are nothing but pathetic. Mechanical engineering students in India can come up with better AR models in solidworks if you provide them with a few blueprints.

SSS must've offered a cut to LMT or the designers for every rifle they sell or paid them upfront for the design while they act as consultants for upgrades and changes based on feedback from our military like how the P72 evolved to M72

Congratulations 🎉 I know the designer is here no clue about rest of the team but congratulations to all of you and the whole design is Indian except scope.
How can i unsee this😂…A simple upper receiver with inbuilt rails or side mounted Prails could have done the job .Also free floating handguards were more welcome .How you are expected to change the selectors with that rail setup or is just a siderail and the pic of left side with the pic inverted
