deader than a doornail. That factory in Amethi is just a waste now. Should have asked SIG to make one there instead. From what I hear AK-203 deal is as good as dead.

Did you see the spec sheet on their carbine ?
The factory only existed on paper.deader than a doornail. That factory in Amethi is just a waste now. Should have asked SIG to make one there instead.
the big question of when will they admit it is still not answeredFrom what I hear AK-203 deal is as good as dead.
In international politics you never admit such things in public.the big question of when will they admit it is still not answered

Why are you in hurry , wait for few years more sirIf the AK-203 deal is dead, then will the Sig-716 or any desi 7.62*51 alternative be the standard issue for the Infantry ?
Compare both the bolts. The left one is AKM. Right one, I would let you guess. What??
Ok-kk-aayCompare both the bolts. The left one is AKM. Right one, I would let you guess.

1. Black finish, so either ferritic nitrocarburizing or bluing or some sort of manganese phosphate.
FNC is very rare in India so I'd guess the later two. Compared to chrome plating on left one, both bluing and manganese phosphate are considered inferior (obviously cheaper and easier too)
2. Less number of curved geometries compared to the bolt on left, almost all the milling cuts are straight lines.
This is done for two reasons. One, you don't have a sophisticated CNC machine. Two, you want to lower cost.
Tough not a big deal, but generally curved surfaces are slightly better at load distribution.
Can't guess more
I get it that one is typical AK/AKM style bolt and other is AK74 pattern one, and things explained by @Lonewarrior bhai stands, but to explain it further you also need bolt face pic

not exactly AKM vs AK-203 thing but damn near to both and focus around bolt face part where extractor sits on it

SLR106CR = AK style bolt has chonkier lug on bolt face that houses the extractor inside it - this would require drilling-digging out materials at manufacturing stage and later affixing a spring loaded extractor via cross-pin through that top lug
WASR-3 = AK74 style bolt has similar dimensions of overall lug but instead of a drilled hole they just made a cut for extractor on it and put a bigger extractor in place, that almost covers the opening
a reason behind that is instead of precise drilling now you just use same milling machine that you used for shaping the bolt by making a big cut, and also imparted force-pressure from rifle's locking recesses on that lug side would also get imparted on extractor itself that could potentially help in extraction process when cycling etc...also maintenance of extractor is simplified here
so yeah it's not entirely bad redesign of the AK bolt but advantages-compromise sort of thing
Just google cost of zenitco rails and say again it’s economical.Yes they are worth the money bywyeah so ironic, zenitcoed ak is more economical and more practical is baffling
