A-545 @Johny_Baba your views on this one?
already covered it in my previous posts, sir
please refer to these quoted posts
tl dr ans is, yay i like this gun but it does have limitations of its own,
notably, since the gas ports are in middle part than kinda far away in front, it bleeds off excessive gases on shooter's face and also heats up handguards to some extent (this was 'specially observed-criticised by the russians in Ratnik trials), and of course the said complexity of the system - but it's still relatively simpler-gradual complexity than some of the modern designs for eg that front ejecting Desert Tech MDR and its ejection port thingy etc in my opinion

Sig Sauer has won a 10-year contract with the U.S. Army with an initial delivery order worth $20.4 million and a ceiling value of $4.7 billion. Under this contract, the company will supply a family of weapons of up to 250,000 rifles and light machine guns. The XM5 Rifle will replace the M4/M4A1 carbine within the close combat force, and the XM250 Automatic Rifle will replace the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). Having won the handgun contract in 2017, that makes Sig Sauer the premier supplier of small arms providers to the Army’s close combat and special operations forces.

Vortex Optics subsidiary Sheltered Wings has been selected to build as many as 250,000 Next Generation Squad Weapon – Fire Control systems at a starting price of about $2.7 billion over the next decade. The partnership beat out L3 Harris, the other company selected to provide a prototype for testing and evaluation.

India made a rifle called mciws with 6.8 ×43 mm ammunition
It was deemed too costly to produce in mass numbers.
We have a million strong army

Some points on what the SSS Defence AK upgrade kits do: They improve the weapon’s relevance to modern battlefield scenarios but they don’t change the operating system and performance. Yes, we can indeed change the Op sys but that’s a topic for a different thread.
The kits had to be designed to work on all the varieties of AK’s available in India - 🇷🇴,🇧🇬,🇵🇱 ,🇷🇺 We also had to preserve the iron sights on the wpn. Again, we’d love to remove the iron sights, add a new gas tube, free float the barrel & make it an entirely new wpn….someday.
The kits feature an M4 style 6 position tactical butt stock with a proprietary design for the folding adapter. The adapter is made with a military spec alloy….no plastic parts in there, please.
The AK dust cover is replaced with a proprietary design that features integrally machined picatinny rails & an adjustment mechanism. Now, we’ve tested this to hold s’thing as long & heavy as a TI sight.
The fore-end picatinny rail adapter allows for accessories to go on 3,6,9 & 12 positions. The real test is when one goes wild & fires off 3 mags in full auto. Those who know will attest.
We then have some ergonomic attachments - a folding fore grip & pistol grip and a 30 round AK mag. These are the only places where you're likely to meet polymer.
We don’t despise polymer but it’s a philosophy that military weapon designers take to heart. Our own wpns don’t have uppers made of plastic. Why should our upgrades?
Finally, all our kits come with a custom manufactured flash hider. Expect lower recoil now. Looks the same as any but the AK’s design made things a lot more difficult.

We couldn't afford AK 15 and opted for downgraded AK 203 due to price.

I will like to give it a try for 7.62 AK/NATO round though to see how it performs.

May be SF can go for this.
Actually, AK 15 has a ton of problems that we simply avoided by using older tech which worked better.

Free float barrel, selector, stock were all poorly made, which made more sense for us to use an upgraded AK-103, with fixed top cover for accuracy, better selector, better grips, better flash hider.

Yes, I know.
But still can't attest to fact that these guys managed to lower recoil by a birdcage. A f-ing birdcage.
I think they might be referring to muzzle rise, not recoil... Some other flash hiders do also work somewhat like compensators.

For recoil they need to mess with the gas system, which they dont seem to have done.

Most of the issue related to Ak-12/15 were sorted out. Based on need different stocks are also available.

But the reason we opted for Ak-103m was price foremost.

Were they? The ones issued to troops still have them, as do the ones offered by kalash concern till last year atleast.
