Modi ji's atmanirbhar bharat where even police forces declining indian small arms and why do they need a battle rifle. This probable buy should be vetoed from national security establishment. State police shouldn't be armed to the level of army imho.
Lol vetoed? Probably Police will break/dislocate their shoulder trying to fire 716 in auto mode just to find out that their bullets are the reason for a catastrophic collateral damage. This bullet can easily pierce 4-5 people standing in a row and still have enough energy to break 6th person's ribcage when fired from 50 mtr(avg contact distance in Kashmir bazaar)

500 rifles, probably for specialist roles incase of long distance engagements/Armour piercing roles in case some terrorist comes with a bpj.

There's a reason why they call such rifles as Battle Rifles.
Do you realize that any innocent person that gets even nicked by such horrendous bullets is gonna suffer for the rest of his/her life?? If someone's hit, they're gone. If hit anywhere else like arm or leg, it will literally ampute that part, crush the nearby bones and make it almost impossible to sew back even for the best of Military surgeons. If they don't die, they're disabled for the rest of ther life.
Well even 7.62x39 fired from 50mtr is almost a death warrant but atleast there's a chance of survival for that innocent.

Have you seen the YouTube video of investigation/recreation of breonna taylor shooting by nytimes, it shows how dangerous it is to shoot even a 9mm in urban settings.

Even throwing a rod is dangerous what is needed is good discipline and training among the guys who are pulling trigger.

Bruh. Severely overstating damage from a bullet.

No, bullet to the leg wont amputate you. All the cops getting bullet injuries in dacoit shootouts were getting hit with 762x51 , Most survived with major scarring.

Getting shot in the upper-mid chest area will kill you regardless if the bullet is 556, 762x39 or 762x51. What sets 762x51 apart is the higher bullet mass and slightly higher speed, giving an advantage in long range shooting, better armour penetration, and better temporary wound cavity.

Damage is more, but you are being too harsh. Maybe hollow point 762 could perhaps fit your description? But no one uses that.

Check some videos on youtube, diff in ballistics gel when hiit by different calibers.

Will clarify. Ballistics gel is basically representative of human fles, so damge to it will be more than that to a body (bone, muscle etc)

Ever wondered why I added "so called" before pellet guns?
Ok leave it, ever wondered why I quoted the word pellet gun?

There is no such thing as pellet gun; we use pump action OFB shotgun with proper birdshot in the name of pellet gun. Shoot at close ranges, and you will make a chunk of flesh vanish in thin air.

Indeed you can't amputate a leg from 50 meters something very similar to "you can't kill 6 people standing in a row" if you KNOW HOW TO AIM.

And ya, I have sufficient knowledge of external and terminal ballistics to know how a bullet will fare. So sadly not that interested in your method of ballistic science.

Any idea how the SIG 716 are performing in -30 degrees or less?
Sig 716 G2 / Sig 716i - Pakistan Army Future Rifle Replacement Trials

Extreme Climate Test. Hot. 360 rounds loaded into magazines and three test weapons were conditioned at +60°C (140°F) for 12 hours. All the test weapons performed without issue except for the US weapons, all of which had the bolt catch fall out of the weapon during testing and one of which launched the muzzle break down range.

Cold. 720 rounds loaded into magazines and three test weapons were conditioned at -40°C (-40°F). Two cycles of 120x rounds fired from each weapon. All the test weapons performed without issue except for the US weapons which would not chamber a round and did not fire a single shot.

The Achilles Heel of any AR-10/15 is its tight clearances.
- Mag catch freezes in it's slot.
- Same with bolt catch.
- Selector manipulation becomes difficult.
- Perhaps the most serious issue; the firing pin gets frozen in its hole. You'll start getting light or even no primer strikes.
