Rashtriya Rifles For Optical Sights On AK-47s

The Indian Army's Rashtriya Rifles (RR) counter-insurgency infantry force is looking to add a modern optical sight to primary assault weapon, the AK-47 in CT opeartions. A global request for information has been put out to a large list of companies, including Russia's NPO (Novosibirsk) Optics State Corporation, American firms Trijicon and EOTech, Raytheon's Canadian subsidiary Ernst Leitz Canada (ELCAN), Swiss optics major Oerlikon Contraves, Romanian sight major IOR Valdada and British firm United Scientific Instruments (USI) among a few others. The RR has specified that it would prefer an optical sight with a zeroing mechanism and one that is compatible with other small-arms without modification.

I was thinking about an ASSAULT RIFLE chambered with 7.62X39 mm M43. Which could be ACCURATE, RELIABLE and have LESS RECOIL
Heard about the Chinese TYPE 88 and GALIL ACE offering these features. maybe such an assault rifle could be the future of the IA

you guys dont understand the concept of injuring enemy............................ let say you have 1,00,000/- enemy soldiers.

now think of situation where you kill 25,000 soldiers and other 75,000 soldiers comes in their place and fight with us.

now think of situation where you injured those 25,000 soldiers then enemy have to engage about 6-9 soldiers per injured to remove them from war zone provide them medicine, nurse them, feed them etc etc.

so in long run it pays to injured a soldier then to kill him, as dead soldier is not of any use for enemy, where as injured soldier who is trained is asset to enemy, they will do what ever to save him. Therefore 5.56 INSAS is better bet then 7.62 or chines or russian AK rounds
What if Pak sends in Hordes of Cheap Jehadis who are ready to become human bombs?

Someone mentioned earlier CT forces look for the kill and regular infantry looks to injure.

Type 88 is not an assault rifle man.Its a MG like our insas lmg which is bad as compared to M249. may be you were mentioning about type 81.only the manufacturers will tell they are better than original AKMs.they all have problems thats why they are not so popular as an AKM and didn't become a success .

what you are suggesting was thought upon and subsequently adopted by Indian army long back. but in todays battlefield things are changing and Indian army has moved away from this policy or though process.
in todays war zone there are smaller forces attacking/ambushing the bigger battalion or company, if the bigger force use such policy of hurting/injuring the enemy instead of killing him then it will be suicide. guerrilla needs to be gunned down( maoist attacks). as they(the guerrillas) are bound to flee so injuring them is no god idea and moreover its not feasible also. this is only valid when you are on attack mode or the ambush party as i stated above.
but we know Indian army is a professional army and not a guerrilla force and is taking a head on with guerrilla rag tag militia.

YUP alby that's the type 81, but some sources point out that it's more accurate. they say it,s partly because of the SHORT STROKE GAS PISTON. Can any other info be provided about any other guns in the 7.62X39mm M43 caliber ???? Like the HK417 or FN SCAR-H

spiez hk417 is not chambered for m43 round..its for nato round which is used in bren and SLR.RK95 is one of the best guns chambered for m43 round.the sad fact is that even though its a better one the berette which acquired the shares of sako the producer of RK95 had stopped the production of it. IA should consider an agreement with beretta to produce rk95 by acquiring license coz they are better than bulgarian AKs

@ post #582:

Look the guy in red. No one is giving him any attention. On the other hand, the blue and orange guys are being swarmed by the spectators.

These are RFI employees at some kind of Industrial Fair. Where was it and when was it?

Nice video Liquid. Thanks a lot!

The Excalibur looks damn good compared to the regular INSAS.
