Prior or after PA ceasefire violation ??

======================
All divs have a regiment of artillery with each of the brigades being allotted one battery each of 6 guns ab initio as part of the organizational structure. Additional artillery may be allotted from the Independent Artillery brigades depending on the situation.

I figure that additional artillery has been deployed in depth in certain areas along the LoC to take out Pak artillery gun positions as well as for the destruction of Paki posts and administrative areas.

Dolam issue still exists. I remember my post where I stated that, we can never trust chipmunks and many subscribed to the same feeling. Dolam was just a spark to show the deep sitting issue b/w both the countries.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A fortnight after the high-stakes Doklam standoff between India and China was diffused via diplomatic channels, soldiers of the People's Liberation Army continue to remain on the contentious plateau. The PLA personnel have even built bunkers on a ridge line behind the disputed area, sparking fears of a fresh standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

The Chinese presence on the plateau was raised by India during a September 8 flag meeting between the Indian division commander and his PLA counterpart at the Nathu La mountain pass.

During the four-hour meeting, the Indian Army insisted that the agreed-upon August 28 disengagement would be incomplete without PLA soldiers vacating the plateau. The Chinese side is believed to have told the Indian army that they would get back after consulting their superiors.

An unspecified number of Indian and Chinese troops currently remain on the Doklam plateau, separated by a distance of 150 metres.

The August 28 disengagement led to a successful visit by Prime Minister Modi to the BRICS summit in Xiamen, between September 3-5. PM Modi held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where the latter emphasised the need for 'peace and tranquillity on the border areas as a pre-requisite for the further development of ties'.

THE STANDOFF

The 71-day Doklam standoff was sparked on June 16 when the Indian Army halted a Chinese construction party building a road in Bhutanese territory towards the Jampheri ridge. The ridge overlooks India's sensitive Siliguri Corridor also called the 'Chicken's Neck' due to its strategic vulnerability.

New Delhi fears that Chinese PLA being in close proximity to the Siliguri Corridor could allow it to cut the Northeast off from Indian mainland during a hypothetical conflict.

The standoff, which was marked by sharp bellicose from China's state media, ended on August 28, with Chinese and Indian troops carrying out a sequential withdrawal from the disputed area and the Chinese halting road construction and taking back their equipment.

Sources privy to the September 8 meeting told India Today that the Chinese also insisted on patrolling up to the Jampheri ridge which is where they insist the trijunction between India, China and Bhutan lies. Both India and Bhutan insist the trijunction lies four kilometres north of the ridge, at the Batang La pass.

The flag meeting at Nathu La was the second since the August 28 de-escalation when both sides withdrew 150 metres from the disputed road construction site.

The first meeting, between Brigadier-ranked officers, was called for on August 30, a day after the de-escalation, when the Indian army objected to the Chinese leaving behind a flag at the spot guarded by eight soldiers.

The Chinese withdrew two days later, but continue to occupy their positions on a ridge abutting the plateau where they have built the bunkers.

Defence establishments on high alert after threat of attack

Defence establishments in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab have been put on a high alert after intelligence inputs that a Pathankot style attack may take place.

Informed sources said there were inputs of around eight Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists, who infiltrated into India, had headed towards Punjab.

The intelligence inputs said the terrorists may be targeting army and air force installations in Jammu region and Punjab to carry out a Pathankot-style attack, following which all bases have been asked to be on high alert.

On January 2, 2016, an Indian Air Force base in Pathankot was attacked, leaving seven security personnel and a civilian dead and 37 security personnel and one civilian injured. All four terrorists, who were from Pakistan, were killed.

After the Pathankot attack, the biggest attack on an army establishment came at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir on September 18, 2016, when four heavily-armed terrorists attacked the army camp there, leaving 19 soldiers dead. The Uri army camp had also come under attack on December 5, 2015, when 8 soldiers and three policemen were killed, along with six militants.

Again on November 29, 2016, seven army personnel, including two officers, were killed in Nagrota after suicide bombers armed with guns and grenades stormed the military base near Jammu. Three attackers were also gunned down on the base campus, while three other militants died in a shootout with security forces near the International Border with Pakistan

Pakistan summons Indian envoy to protest against killing of civilians in LoC violation

https://www.dawn.com/news/1357645/p...against-killing-of-civilians-in-loc-violation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh on Thursday to protest against the killing of two civilians as a result of yet another unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Indian forces across the Line of Control (LoC).

On Wednesday, a 35-year-old man Mohammad Zahoor, who was a resident of the village Dewara and a woman Reshma Bibi from the village Kakran, were shot dead by Indian forces as both sides engaged in cross-border firing in the Phuklian Sector across the Working Boundary. Three others were injured in the relentless firing.

The Foreign Office’s director general for South Asia and Saarc, Dr Mohammad Faisal, urged India to respect the 2003 ceasefire agreement in letter and in spirit, and investigate violations to maintain peace along the LoC.

India should allow the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan to play its mandated role according to the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, he said.

ARTICLE CONTINUES AFTER AD
The heavily militarised LoC and Working Boundary have witnessed sporadic skirmishes and artillery duels since the alleged Indian 'surgical strike' last September, in violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Agreement signed by both countries.

Earlier this month, a five-year-old girl was killed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir when an Indian soldier opened fire across the Line of Control.

The orphan was killed when a single bullet by the soldier hit her as she stood in the courtyard of her house in Polas village of Abbaspur sector in the southern Poonch district.

Protests were held in the area against the "apathy of the state and the government towards the plight of the people living along the LoC" after the incident.

We always hear that there is unprovoked firing from Pakistan. Doesn't mean that we don't do the same. It's just that we don't tell it.
