Wests defence has caused Russian warplanes to have to depend on glide bombs from its own territory, this is prolonging the conflict , the west has established robust supply routes to Ukraine that the Russians are unwilling or unable to interdict.

The war has become more or less of a stalemate unless Russia launches a massive attack to claim remaining lands as originally set in the objective of the war.

The collective west has slowly realised it's folly and after having spent too much resources and money , now want to wash their hands off the affair asap.

The global south is depended on Russia for weapons,food security, support at UN ,as Russia is a veto weilding permanent member of UNSC.
Being a resource rich country both in oil and other natural resources,it's impossible for global south to decouple from Russia and support the western adventure, most countries are also of the view that this war was started by unnecessarily needling Russia ,by ignoring it's security concerns wrt Ukraine's membership of the nato, the united states duplicity is evident ,as it will not allow any such moves, which even remotely causes it's neighbours to join an opposite millitary grouping.
Russian past association as part of USSR with the global south countries, which continues Albright in a lesser way ,also weighs on their decision of not isolating Russia.

The end to this war will be freezing of borders at current position, some sort of neutrality on part of Ukraine, Russia too will have to give something in return for the west to back off completely.
However the upcoming election will mean that usa isn't in a hurry to give a part victory (even though a major one) to Russia by declaring peace now.
