There are actually plenty of other related ethnicities like the Mizos in India and Myanmar as well as Chins from Myanmar who are rooting for Kukis. It is clear as day that civil war in Myanmar is encouraging the various other tribes in India to inch towards agitation.

The more I see his inaction on Manipur, violence in WB, no implementation of CAA in Assam and letting the farmer protests to evolve to such an extent that they are demanding pensions for all farmers and farm workers as well as withdrawal from WTO, the more I realize he is a coward and a hypocrite. Only reason I'd be voting BJP this year is because their MP candidate in my constituency is half decent compared to the alternative.

Why still Manipur CM Biren Singh is with BJP?

Answer is NE states have to forever in mercy of the Central Govt. They will always allign with the party at the centre at that given time be it Congress or BJP out of Majboori and Laalach.

NE States govts are one of the most corrupt govts in India.

Most NE states will vote for whoever is in the central government, cause that is how they will get their cuts. N Biren was before strong congress now in BJP. Also, a poor state like Manipur will survive only through central grants and unless we develop and stand on our own feet the cycle will continue, sometimes this makes me sad, but it is so deeply rooted it will take time. In this election the political party might give 10-20k per vote to vote for them as we are also at fault we will sell our rights to the highest bidder.

Even if there were such industries theoretically speaking , not that there are any , what makes you think GoI would want the NE to be 100% self sufficient ?

NE has some potential in 3 sector IMHO
1) Hydropower
2) Tourism
3) Border area trade
However, in order for all these to work well we need to have a conducive environment and I don't see that happening in my lifetime for sure. One senior government guy once said NE is just a black hole of India, sometimes you just don't know what is happening there
