140mm APFSDS next to 120mm one. medium and light tanks days are numbered.
There is a limit to how much you can push even with ERA. Heavy MBT are the only one surviving tank on tank battle or anything in future. So the notion that tank weight need to be kept low in 50 tonne range is just pure fantasy. Even armata is 55 tonne with ammo and will require armour upgrade to it's gun turret, increasing weight further up.

Leclerc with 140mm gun will be a beast , it to will require a new engine.
Challenger 2 is a 65 tons MBT with 1200hp engine.
Leclerc is 56 tons with 1500hp engine. Even a 140 gun add only a couple of tons (2 or 3 max).

Nexter claimed 70% increase in performance. Muzzle velocity would probably be upward of 2500 m/s. Upcoming Franco-German MBT will be a game changer and will dominate Europe decades to come.
Russian's will have to build that 152mm gun or they are a done deal.
Yes for 70% more performance, No for 2500m/s. The max speed possible with powder is under 2000m/s.
The increase in performance came from the higher kinetic energy due to heavier sparrow.

But armata gun has managed 2050 m/s in trials how ? Could it be using ETC technology ?

Challenger is better suited for such a big gun than leclerc though. Engine probably to get a upgrade in challenger.

Why better suited.
Terminator (the 140mm Leclerc) is a reality.
130mm Challenger is a paper work.

2050, 2000.... same thing. 2500m/s is another challenge. As for now not possible with powder.
ETC technology based ammo can achieve that muzzle velocity even higher with powder alone . Who knows it's already secretly in use.
