How much content in re-engineered Kaveri be Indian? Does that mean it includes TOT to make new Engine within India with M88 core?
Everything but the high pressure axial compressor. You can easily copy the design but the ability to make the blades is a closely guarded secret. No one is going to give up that tech.

How much percentage will be the Indian content in the Engine in terms of cost.

A high pressure axial compressor is worth around $1 million, so subtract that from whatever Kaveri costs.
Guys wouldn't that be economical if we go with Kaveri with M88 core? Most cost of the Engine stays within India. We can make as many engines we want. With time we can invest in R&D on that part as well. We will have engine manufacturing echo system within India. Presently we are paying totally for GE engines and whole amount in foreign currency is going out. Also as long as US is happy we are getting GE engines. If tomorrow they stop, our LCA program will be affected. 1 million is not a big amount and it will bring the cost of LCA down drastically.

Hi
I don't know where you get those figures from. The thrust of the F404 is 11,000lbs dry and 17,700 wet. The F414 is 13,000lbs dry and 22,000 wet.

Afterburners are only used in critical situations as it burns several times more fuel per minute and increases wear on the engine. The figure that matters most for real world use is dry thrust.

With only 2000lbs more thrust and an increased engine weight the gains will be minimal. What needs to be done is reduce the weight of Tejas of its own internal structure to garner more payload and or fuel stores.
Was referring to MTOW. But yes the concern is still like ~40 percent increase in mtow would f414 thrust increase ~18 percent, be again underpowered?

Kaveri itself has not been cancelled, it will be used in the Ghatak UCAV, however it will not be used in any variant of the Tejas.
Instead a new 110kN class engine will be pursued with all the experience accumulated from Kaveri forwarded onto this new project & this time GTRE will seek foreign players for co-development of the 110kN class turbofan powerplant and not make the mistake of doing all of it on their own.

Though tejas is a capable fighter.
But with a desi engine...with a desi radar...and with desi missile s it will be much more capable ..cost effective and...

Will be lucrative for buyers...

Again in lima 2019 ..tejas was seen with brahmos mini........though brahmos is a bad boy...but this project is for future...
When you are showing a product to a buyer to buy them now...then better show them something is present for now....which will give them confidence......
Imho ..india should have shown tejas with astra mk1....which is possible in near future....

If the aircraft increases 18% in weight and you get an 16% gain in military thrust you haven't accomplished a huge boost in performance. You have effectively taken a light aircraft and started moving it into the medium category. The only real leap in performance is using afterburner so if you take off close to MTWO, you will be using it not only on take-off but up to cruising altitude which burns so much fuel it defeats the purpose of carrying more fuel unless you meet up with a tanker.

To sum up, with afterburner it is a major leap. With military thrust it is no leap at all unless you get the aircraft weight way down.

seems like this under developement Ganga engine is in the class of Al-31 from 123-137 KN which can power not only AMCA but also re-engine Su-30mki as well.
Super Sukhoi are super to get AL-41... Kaveri & Ganga are for AMCA & Tejas Mark 2, maybe even reengined Mark 1A.
