@Delta Squad, @Gyyan and @Killbot,

Laugh all you want but when IAF is facing over a couple thousand PLAAF and PAF jets mass produced by China on two fronts, you won't be laughing but cursing at yourselves for not willing to take the hard moves to produce the numbers I talked about.
Be reasonable dude, even if IAF manages to get half of Chinese fleet size, we will be in a good position to defend ourselves in combination with our air defence assets capabilities. We don't need to match China aircraft to aircraft. And Paki airforce currently is as good as non existent with their current situation.

Because we need economy of scale and we are also facing PAF on another front. When you have 1000 you won't have them all operating but most of them will be operational and the rest would be undergoing maintenance and repair. If you have 1000, you will only have about 750-800 planes in working order and the rest are in maintenance and repair. And you have to consider wartime losses and peacetime operational losses.

Look at USAF. It produced over 2200 F-16s for its own use and lost about 650 jets throughout the years and had about 1253 jets left in 2007. Now it is down to 841 F-16 jets.

And besides China may not have 1000 J10C right now but you can bet your bottom ass that they will get there and well over 1000.
1000 mk2 are just too much for to produce and maintain. Gonna cost us a lot!

US can and will produce on large scale, they have might and money to do so!

we need to order 248 more MKI airframes and bring the number to 5`0 which will give us 20 squadrons with 24 airplanes per squadron and 40 airframes stored as replacement fighters to replace losses during peacetime and 100 airframe kits to replace wartime losses. I firmly believe that the upgraded MKIs can take up 80% of the Rafale f4's capabilities and the Tejas MK2 can take up the rest.

And we need to have 1000 Mk2s and 272 AMCAs. We should also develop the ORCA plane to replace the overpriced Rafale and eventually replace the MKIs.
Only one word - M.O.N.E.Y!!

We can find a way to come up with the money if we indigenize the whole program 100%. We are essentially subsidizing a large job program which we do anyway. If we can afford $30B for food subsidies, we can afford to pay $7B for 15-20 years and pay for 1000 LCAs which include the unit price, lifecycle costs, and weapons.

Dump that ridiculous MRFA program and focus on the LCAs. That's where you get the money.

By the way, can someone knowledgeable about Project LCA hazard some educated guesses for me (apart from the obvious increased cost) as to why we are going with the base variant of the GE F414 when the EPE variant is available??

can someone plz explain:-
64000 crore is equivalent to 8 billion dollar...nd we r going to upgrade 84 su 30 mki in this. that per aircraft upgrade cost near 8000/84= 95 million dollar upgrade. in this price we can buy a new rafale (without weapon).
before we heard all 260 su 30 mki upgrade will cost 8 billion dollar. even we heard russia is demanding 8 billion dollar to upgrade all our su 30 mki. now only 84 su30 mki is upgraded in this high price.
is this high price upgrade make sense?? in this upgrade price (8 billion dollars) we can buy 80+ rafale (without weapon package).

Even China hasn't produced 1000 J10C. Why do you want India to produce 1000 Mk2 ?
even 1000 MK2 production isnt problem...problem is price. 83 tejas mark 1a cost us 6 billion dollars approx. definitely 100 tejas mark 2 will cost us 7-8 billion dollar. 1000 tejas mark 2 will cost us near 70-80 billion dollars. we can afford maximum 200 tejas mark 2.

Don't be stupid.. can Rafale or Tejas or F35A carry 3 Brahmos NG to 1500 km distance.
Every platform has its importance. We are preparing this batch of super sukhoi to last 30 years and more, because I don't see any upcoming massive bomber platform project.
In my opinion complete airframe overhaul is also under way , otherwise there is no reason why it's touching 90+ m$

so u r saying 3-5 brahmos ng cant fit on current su 30 mki😝😂....its better to just leave su 30 mki as it is now, as a small bomber. nd invest that 8 billion dollar in 36-40 more full weapon rafale. su 30 mki will get soon many long standing weapons, its high RCS isnt going to reduce by new upgrade. new upgrade dont make su 30 mki doing SEAD nd DEAD missions in enemy airspace. it will remain second strike fighter, when rafale or mirage 2000 clear enemy SAMS nd radar. su 30 mki can do it even current configuration. it should be equipped by these weapons:-
1:- astra 2 (160 km).
2:- astra 3 (200+ km).
3:- rudram 1 (150-200 km).
4:- rudram 2 (300 km).
5:- rudram 3 (500 km).
6:- brahmos A (450-600 km).
7:- brahmos ng (300 km).
8:- rampage (150-250 km).
if u want it even more capable, than only thing which needed to upgrade in su 30 mki:-
1:- uttam aesa radar.
2:- new infrared sensor.
3:- new RWS.
4:- duel band MAWS.
5:- towed decoys.
6:- digital cockpit.
this upgrade isnt more than 30-40 million dollars per aircraft. think again bro. we r talking about 95 million dollar. a "new" su 30 mk cost in russia is near 55 million nd su 30 mki costed near 60-65 million dollar.
in 8 billion dollars, we should upgrade all 260 su 30 mki...its a 4.5 genration upgrade (coz su 30 mki is 4 genration, due to lacking many 4.5 genration capability). we r not upgrading our su 30 mki in 5 genration.

How do you know 25 years old non composite airframes capable to carry 3x 1.6+T + other A2A ammunition for defence ?
It's perfect time to upgrade Su 30 fleet in phased manner for next 20-25 years.

And RCS can actually be reduced with the usage of Composite material in the airframe.
