Maybe Everyone involved in the project wanted to make sure that not a single soul dies in any kind of mishap of TEJAS MK1, so they got the BEST one.

Or space constrain , an issue that Russian aircrafts don't face .
The Goodrich version was the lightest and most ergonomic design. And it was tested on numerous times showing that it was superior to Martin Baker. They could have gone for Martin Baker seats but they didn't. They went for the Russian design and took it and improved it further.

That's again a western one. 🤷‍♂️

And space conatrain vs weight are different parameters.

Also US ACES seats being light weight doesn't prove that Russian seats were light .

Yes and based on a Russian design.

The MiG-21 uses the NPP design and is even more tighter than the LCA and weight constraints are a bigger concern for the MiG-21 than the LCA.

Source for that .. tighter in what terms height ?? Width ??

There might be something holding back Russian origin seats , otherwise i see no reason IAF / HAL not going for those.

Can't find it online. No open source available. Perhaps your google fu is stronger than mine?

The most complex & disproportionate investment requiring subsystems are left for the last.
1. quadruplex digital fly by wire flight control system without any analogue or mechanical back up
2. Composites
3. all glass cockpit with-multifunction displays and micro processor based general systems
4. RSS delta wing

It's easy to argue these were the most complex and critical to Tejas' success.

Yup.. a probe is very much a non-priority compared to those.

Did you know that Goodrich which makes ejections eats for Boeing warplanes copied the design from NPP Zvezda? Martin Baker may be good but my point remains is that since no other Indian fighter jet uses Martin Baker ejection seats, why go for Martin Baker seats as it introduces a different product and more complexity to the logistic chain? They could, the very least, copy the design from NPP Zvezda and make it their own as Boeing/Goodrich did.
No other Indian fighter uses MB? We've had Canberra, Gnats, Sea Harriers all of which used MB seats. Jaguars still use them, as do Hawks. Kiran trainers use MB seats as well. So does HJT-36 and HTT-40.

That I didn't know. Thanks for the education. So there is economy of scale and there is existing supply chain for MB seats.

Is that @Kuntal render in background @Bleh
Does this mean we are close to sign the deal??
And just like that, lads, Tejas has 50% more exports than Jf-17 (18 against 12, it'll be 200% more if we can expand the order to 36). 🎉🎊

...And it'll be a bloody shame if IN acquires SH-18 without making the Yanks take FLIT as their new naval trainer.

bhai, hold your horses till its double official due to unreliability of anything official in India. More than anything, any export would be a punch in the face for the gujrati, begali and Punjabi dalaals in Chandigarh and IAF brass
