Based on response given by the Minister in Parliament, IAF has 8 FOC aircrafts. And total of 24 Tejas.
So I believe IAF has taken delivery of these birds and maybe some IOC has moved over to forward base temporarily. HAL has promised to deliver remaining 8 by April- May 2022. HAL already has started to build 2 trainers and they are on jig.
SP25 is going on with MK1a mods and testing. April deadline will be pushed to 1st quarter or maybe second quarter.

That’s probably doable but I think HAL will retain a few units to integrate Astra and to test MK1A tech

@abingdonboy i remember on brf it was told that IAF is taking soft-delivery & are handling the aircrafts still at HAL facility. I believe Astra ke n baad they'll move them.

I am now wondering how iaf will keep amca, as it will req more care :creepy:.
Why the hell are you so worried? Obviously indian Airforce will know how to maintain RAM(Radar Absorbent Material) On AMCA. But yes it will be more costly than Maintaining the RAM on LCA Tejas.

Btw can someone please tell me what are some of the reasons or causes which result in degrading of RAM on Aircrafts? One example is poor Maintainance of the Aircraft. What are some more Reasons?

there is tradeoff b/w the desired charecterstic and ruggedness.

What do you mean by 'there is tradeoff b/w the desired charecterstic and ruggedness.'? Could you elaborate in more detail kindly?
RAM coating gets worn out more easily and quickly than regular Tipnis Gray coating when aircraft is ruggedly used. IAF is infamous for pushing any and all jets to their maximum limits during training exercise, CAP duties, etc.

Hence such a tradeoff will have to be acknowledged when buying any 5th gen fighter.

We have to look for that , as with previous experience of f 35 as a example , drdo is trying to make amca less maintenance intensive

1. One of the main reason is fluttering and vibration stress on the air-frame causing RAM to peel of.
2. Erosion of RAM due high speed impact of air on aircraft surface during flight super-sonic and/or sub-sonic flight.
3. Variation in temperature and humidity (causes gradual degradation).
4. Sunlight (causes gradual degradation).
