But we're dependent on Uncle Sam anyway na. Entire LCA fleet, Planned Mk2, AMCA Mk1, Apaches, Chinooks, P8Is - all have American dependence
Engines are last piece of chessboard for us.
As far as I know we have or working on all other fighter jet technology.

Sadly engine development is not as easy, look at china, they had the WS-10 since the 90s, and it only recently was seen in full scale production and use. Depending on uncle sam for like 10/20 more years won't really be a problem, at least if in that time a proper engine can be sorted out.

Whats needed is money, you throw enough money at it and it will be done.

Episode 3 of "Hamara Tejas"

Though the contents are a bit less still this particular episode gives a glimpse at how difficult it was to start a program like this years ago, sanctions and now what we have achieved.

From having no indigenous aircraft to test (components) to now having a whole new division where IAF pilots are directly acting as part of ADA ensuring direct user feedback, a semi-matured platform, production in the form of Tejas Mk1 we now have the basics ready and now are at point where Dr. Kota feels that AMCA, UCAV etc. all can be build in house. With experience and a structured organisation, we are more ready than ever before.

Also, few highlights,

>Around 19:47, Dr. Kota confirms that MWF is actually ready and going through the final review.

>At the end part of the video AKM confirms that trainer production has begun, with trainer SPT01 at LCA division and SPT02 at aircraft division.

OT, but Dr. Kota's comment also emphasises why we need some sort of testbed, indigenous one, for Kaveri or any indigenous engine rather than sending it to the Russia every time we have to test it.

This MRFA/MMRCA is just a wet dream eventually UNAF will wake up with a bad reality. But still, UNAF is persuing this wet dream which shows how inefficient UNAF is in planning, vision and totally lacks wisdom.

114 wet dreams including "Indian specific requirements" will cost more than 30 billion dollars and that too will be delivered by 2035. The contender will most likely be either Rafale or F-21 and both will offer nothing in terms of "Technology transfer". Moreover, 30 billion money if used wisely, can fix the whole problems which the Armed forces are facing today.

What UNAF is doing by crying for an MRFA is just prolonging their suffering and misery for another decade. Don't forget UNAF is in a deep mess because of their past misplaced requirements and tantrums but they have learned nothing still repeating the same mistake which will lead to them in a bigger mess in the future for sure.

Tejas Mk2 is the only solution. Lies and drama of UNAF wouldn't hide the truth that Tejas Mk2 will be a far better Jet than Rafale or F-21 junk or F-15Ex. Any amount of stupid opinion can not mask this fact even if one wants to compare in Range, payload, or sensors.

UNAF must commit 300 Tejas mk2 today with more future options otherwise we all will notice the intensity/frequency of crying will increase day by day while no solution on the horizon.

True... China is not a some kind of disease that will come and go. China will remain there so India needs to stand on its feet.

If news of IAF dropping Tejas MK2 is true then IAF had learnt zilch from it's past experience
I don't understand jumping to 5 gen without demonstrating 4th gen capabilities ..
Tejas MK2 is a necessity .hope better sense prevails .
Lobby prevails😎
But anyway, they'll get a max of 36-54 Rafales no matter how hard the current AF Chief pushes. Chief will retire in sometime, Babus stay. Tejas Mk2 will also have to be kinda imposed on them like Tejas Mk1

Time-stamped. Looks like AF is involved with mk2. We're probably overthinking this. The government has put so much into mk2 development. I don't think they'd let it go to waste. If they do, they're wasting taxpayers money.

sirji, don’t start a new controversy. :pound:

Adding an β€œIf” doesn’t stop people from reading this the way they want to read this.

Yes yes, I know you didn’t start this per se.
