4 jets are at final stages waiting for rollout in September.
4 more in jigs. They were stuck with the latest clearance of centreline bomb carrying capacity. And they're was some unknown modification... maybe the gun or software modifications.
Thanks for update dear. I hope we will get them soon, no more further delays :hail:

Thanks for update bro....
Great !! . Thanks for the update. So optimistically we could see 4 in Sept, another 4 in Dec/Jan and maybe if they pull out some rabbit out of their hat 4 by end of Financial year. That may not be a terrible outcome given Covid

No, there could be delays in handing over if the jets need to come with Python-5 integrated... Work has been going for the same on the LSPs as R-73 is deemed unreliable.

If its software update comes post-delivery then they'll be given to IAF in pairs next month, if not then gotta wait a bit more until that is concluded. Apparently these 4 have been waiting incomplete at tarmac for several weeks now, but I suppose fully equiped with latest features is being prioritised over joining the squadron.

I believe these Jets are possibly for Second Squadron of Tejas Aircraft, will roll out of these Jets play a role in retiring Mig-21?

No, these are for 18th, replacing already retired Mig-27)... And
Work is also going on making Tejas carry BVRs on inboard pylons & bomb/tanks in central one (cleared recently but unclear if the operational versions require any modifications).

For now their plan is to arm FOC Tejas with 2 Astra, (being integrated) 2 Derby & 2 Python-5 (status unknown) with 1 centreline EFT, then to use it in border skirmishes like 27th. That's why the IOC jets are spread across several airbases.

So right now exactly what is the holdup is hard to say for sure. Could be any of the above.

Thanks for information and updates. It is pleasing to know, Tejas is not in cold storage. I hope that work and output of finished product will be on war footing as we see war is looming on us.

why cant we keep the Tejas Production line warm by ordering another 10 Two Seater Aircraft in FOC Variant ? If we receive all the aircraft including trainers by March 2021? Hal Tejas MK1 will roll out in 2023. In between in the year 2022 cant we induct atleast 5 aircraft or maximum 10, I believe 10 is not possible given production rate. Pakistan ordered additional 12 JF-17 Block II aircraft, when JF-17 Block 3 was delayed, Induction of these Jets should be encouraged by Government also.

They are keeping the Tejas production line warm already by going incredibly slow at churning them out.

You mean to say that HAL is delivering Aircraft at a very slow pace just to keep the production line warm?
I dont think it's intentional, but by going as slow as they are and missing targets constantly, they are keeping the production line warm as is.

Good news if Python can be integrated on Tejas it's a cost saver in comparison to ASRAAM , but isn't the airframe itself had turbulence launching it ?

Though R-73 took down a F-16 and now R-74 and K-74 /m2 are also available what is so unreliable now after more than a decade ?

Yes somewhat true... They are warming up for mk1a.

Why just settle for Derby-ER? Meteor is an absolute necessity for LCA. Lets go for that instead.
Meteor won't come to IAF other than on Rafale, Its banned by company to integrate into other platforms

Gripen looks more maneuverable but Tejas is still better because Tejas is always available to us and is less prone to sanctions and even immune to sanctions if we buy engines and spares in sufficient numbers to last for next 10 years before we come with our own engines
The gripen frame is moving faster in the video compared to LCA frame so it gives the wrong impression

Great opportunity for comparison ruined by some retard... Couldn't even align the two videos with Tejas one starting at 2-3 second (about 30° angle) lag. Anybody has the video editing skill to download & fix the mismatch?

Nonetheless the rate of turn is absolutely same in this case.

What about Mica, its been a battle proven A2A weapon?
Not only unauthorised, but too costly... A full BVR armament load would cost a much as the whole Tejas jet.

True it was around 2.4 mn + a piece in 2011 deal we made for 450 missiles almost same as meteor I guess. French use the same missile for CCM and BVR in IR and BVR. In NG version they are going a step ahead.

Astra IR and RF will do the same for us once both are operational.
