IAF has roughly Rs55K cr annual acquisition budget.
For the next 5 years that would be - 275K cr

MK1a deal - 48K
Mig29 deal -7K
Su30MKI deal - 10K

MK2 deal - 80K or less ?

Do add more

BTW even when we buy 72 off the shelf - the total number would be 108 - Which is close to original MRCA
As a buyer, we must ask ToT of critical areas else we can always move on to F16V which has far far better industrial value(We might be able to recover all money that we would invest in buying F16 by industrial offset and supply chain benefit)
Nah ,US will give any gibs never .

Also too much nosey habits ,add to it capability are not equal to rafale ,so no ,rafale is a good platform and enough mature ,spectra us ine of best in class ,

US will be super happy for F16 deal,
Rafale is definitely better than F16 - true.
But what would we get then after buying Rafale,
With the Su30 deal, we could even manufacture engines here, heck even change its structures without the consultant of OEM.

If we don't get Su30 level of design/change competent with Rafale, then this deal is useless

BTW info regarding RFI of new MMRCA

The official added that the RFI included the requirement for transfer of technology, including the transfer of design, development, manufacturing, and repair expertise. It also included the requirement for the unilateral capability to integrate weapons, systems and sensors. The capability to upgrade the aircraft and a provision on exporting the aircraft is also part of the program. India is also seeking transfer of technology for stealth technology, active electronically scanned array radars, avionics, electronic warfare systems and engines.

If F16V can give this facility, then buy it. Period

3 more Rafale jets land in India from France

Another batch of three Rafale fighter jets landed at the Ambala airbase on Thursday, taking the total number of Rafales in the Indian Air Force (IAF) inventory to 23.

According to people aware of the development in Dassault, four aircraft were supposed to take off from Merignac-Bordeaux airbase in France on May 20, but only three could because of the unavailability of more mid-air refuellers in the UAE.

Although four Rafale Omni role fighters were supposed to leave on May 20, the flights were rescheduled due to maintenance issues with the mid air refuellers. The fighters could only take off today due to long weekend holidays in France, the people cited above said.

We will get what we pay for.... Unless we ask for assembly line and to build 100-150+ jets here in India we won't get much. And by the time total tech will be transferred and run complete we may not even need it.

Instead we can work out on small projects as part of offsets that include engine , consultation for aircraft project etc etc.. Rest we are moving forward with Tejas MWF Tedbf and amca project.

Yes if we are going for a small order, we need to ask for MRO in India and using the offset for getting critical tech - frankly we don't even need aesa radar tech from them

@BON PLAN, Does the Rafale have air brakes dedicated for the role? as opposed to canards, landing gear, elevons acting together to bring the plane to a halt after landing.

Secondly does it have a drag chute?

TIA.

Video I referenced:
No.
It uses the differential steering of the control surfaces, including canards but not only, to do so.

Any other modern jet has spectra like system?
Every modern jet has an electronic support system.
But it is rumored for years that Spectra is one of the sole (or the sole) to be able to create a kind of radar cloaking. Is it true? it's highly secret, but during a training between english EF2000 and Rafale, in 2007 if I remember well, with some electronic counter measures on, the EF2000 pilots were unable to elaborate a firing solution...
Such a system seems also fitted on B2 bomber.
