  • Boost for Indian Air Force with the rest of the contracted Rafale fighters arriving by jan 2022. IAF is set to receive 3 Rafale fighters per month from France over the next three months. Last of the 36 contracted Rafale jets will arrive in jan 2022 and will have all India specific enhancements. The 36th fighter will be the deadliest Rafale aircraft and is likely to make the platform more lethal. 26 of the 4.5 generation Rafale jets are already operational from Ambala and Hashimara bases. It is only after the 36th Rafale jet lands that the previous 35 fighters will be fitted with all the enhancements. France, one of India’s closest strategic allies, has already sent the enhanced missiles and ammunition for Rafale to IAF. While Meteor missile is best in its category, Hammer and SCALP have pinpointed accuracy. These weapon systems have multiple guidance facilities & can be used in stand-off mode.

Last month (28/8/21), Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi met with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership.

PM Al-Kadhimi and President Macron are said to have discussed the Iraqi-French military relations, particularly Iraq’s procurement of Rafale fighter jets.

They are doing fine this time surprising but good .

The major delay happen with development cycle most of the time where ADA/DRDO etc are involved.

Also IAF didn't ask Dassault for any additional changes in between like they do with HAL etc.

No Way. It's now a US only market.

The quality of French, British and American military suppliers is not in doubt, but it took them several decades of investment in modern technology and industries and lots of failures to get there. There is no short cut.

Hopefully Tejas MK2 shows some improvements and some signs that the Indian defense manufacturers are have closed the gap in delivering compared to the world class Dassault or Boeings.

Can Rafale perform operations that a combination of Growlers(EW Specific) and Super Hornets(Fighter Attack) are able to?

The Rafale Spectra electronic counter measures system is able to protect the bird against any threat. So fitted, Rafale is its own self Growler. So Rafale can do what a combo of SH18 and SH18 Growler do.

The sole Growler asset is to give a support to a fleet of several fighters, and not only for itself. Rafale EW coverage is less deep.

Not exactly. It is not the same doctrine.

When US planes attacks, they do it in large COMAO. Dozens of warplanes attack multiple targets at the same time. During this attacks, growlers are here to sent a lot of noise to disturb enemie's aerial defenses.
With counter radiation missiles like Alarm, they shoot against radar system attached to ground-air battery missiles. In order to be sure that any defense system will remain silent and not try to do anything stupid... (In fact Alarm missiles destroy rarely any target but force the system to be powered off to avoid to be hit by the alarm)

The inconvenience of this system of electronic warfare, is that the attack is not discreet at all. Everyone knows that they will be hit very soon...

With Rafale, which are used by more little air force, the system is different. Each Rafale is self protected against any defense system and it is indépendant of any other overall protection system. For sure, an attack of Rafale fleet could be covered with Growler, but it will be shame because it will break the main advantage of the rafale doctrine, it's discretion.

When you attack using Rafale, the system is able to detect with a lot of precision the different zones to avoid, and with precision stand off weapon, attack the target from far.

In last case, the system will protect over any adversal fire control radar.

This is how the system designed. And it seams to works well. We have testimonies against S300, typhoon and Su35s at least. a proof of the confidence over this system when France flew over Libya some days before any other allied airplane, and before a massive attack of cruise missile from USA to destroy the aerial defense system of Libya.

with less money, France have to be more effective. And its works.

Yep.. US depends more on throwing the kitchen sink at the enemy or what they call as "Shock and Awe" to overwhelm the enemy.. Not every nation has that kind of luxury..

IAF gives glimpse of stealth cruise missile on Rafale?

On Monday, the Indian Air Force tweeted rare images of a Rafale carrying the Scalp cruise missile. Giving the caption "When you know how to be Smart and Pretty—Ways of the World", the Indian Air Force shared images of a Rafale and a Netra airborne early-warning aircraft firing flares, which are used to distract infrared-homing air-to-air or surface-to-air missiles. Three of the images showed a Rafale carrying what appeared to be a Scalp missile on its 'centreline' pylon (the weapon station mounted at the centre of the fuselage).

Strange to see a land based Rafale with a single SCALP. It is normally used only for naval version. But why not.

Scalp is an expensive missile. Flight with it and you wil use its potential. So, for picture, with a real one and not a mock-up, better to install only one.

Finally someone knows what they’re talking about. 👆This.
Each rafale is a self contained system capable of a high amount of EW. It has one of the most computer powerful processing units for fast sensory outputs. You can send one rafale to do the job of one balakot, theoretically. You don’t need a large strike package. This is something which the F35 will also be able to do from now.
Most of the cope exercises, usaf Pilots would complain that the rafales always had their numerous sensors activated to soak up and record electronic signatures and collect as much data as possible instead of actually fighting lol.
