If India decided to purchase Jets without Offset, the cost was reduced by 33%.
I don't know if that is fact. Egypt and Qatar paid more and didn't get nearly as many offsets. India got a strategic partner deal where the French state decided to eat some cost to meet the terms they wanted. Dassault, Thales, Safran and the 500 SMEs involved are not going to sell at a loss, they are in it to make money. The way the state recuperates the money is by offering loans and profiting from the interest.

You are right. More over kaveri got a new life making French to work a bit for its induction and their own future,In the form of 125kn engine above Kaveri. They are ready to give the same subsystems for tejas which are currently imported to make it in India.

When some things are not able to be done on our own and are required urgent someone will be definitely benefitted. It is better even we to get its benefit in one from or the other.

French will be really benefitted more and above that.

Kaveri with 90-95kn will be a good candidate for tejas Mk1, Mk1a, Mig-29 and K and if possible Mirage 2000.

There are really very few countries that are planning to aquire rafale due to high cost, when a fifth gen plane with a lower price tag will be awaiting .

They have an eye on the low cost tejas where they want their presence to be able to get benefit.

Most who have high cash will go with F-35.

Small airforces want a low cost, low maintenance, multi role and better and a modern aircraft which is slightly future proof where Tejas and gripen stand out.

French are not at all foolish, since after kaveri engine is ready tejas price tag will be definitely be lower.

If there is a substantial contribution from the French in tejas, they will earn whatever money comes with rafale and will get a big bonus in the form of tejas sales.

Disclaimer : I really don't want to comment on the airforces which consider Chinese planes.

Its not like we can't do it.
Its that we can't do it quick enough.

We were already making headway 6-7 years ago in single crystal tech.

That luxury of time and almost a bottomless wallet filed to the brim with dolla-dolla bills that the western nations have, that which allowed them to go through the motions of proper metallurgical science, we don't have it.

Hence the need to get our turbofan engine done with outside help.

The last 12 for Qatar will be paid 1.1 billion, so 95 €millions each.
The indian one are costier, because of offset clause.

The cost of the second Qatar order does not include the set-up package. It is fly-away cost plus spares. If India places a follow on order theirs would also be cheaper like the second Qatar order.

Well, it is like believing that you can become a billionaire by simply looking for others' lost wallets in the street whole day.
Not looking for lost wallets, rather stealing the wallets from their pockets. Pickpockets do better than beggars. Right now we are just going around with a begging bowl asking for technology. And simply buying a weapon doesnt mean that we are entitled to know its technology. Plenty of countries buy the same weapons we buy without asking for ToT.

These wallets were highly guarded by the people who has the same knowledge and skills as those hackers. Most of times, the success of cyber espionage is depending on people’s negligence. Russian hackers are a group of the world best and they are also quite active in the cyber war, but it didn’t bridge their technical gap with Americans.

Modern jet or jet engine includes hundreds of thousands components produced by thousands of factories, It is just naïve to believe that any country can copy it by hacking into all these factories, labs simultaneously.

Well, India did ask for TOT, always. The problem is India can’t afford the price of full TOT.

Most o our hi tech projects are in mess not only because of technological challenges but mostly because of mis-management and indecisiveness. We had AWACS 2 decades ago but now we do not have it. once it crashed, we remained indecisive to start project once again.

It seems like the French strung us along only to finalize the Rafale deal.

Eitherway, we cannot give up on Kaveri, go the chinese way and just pour in more money and spank GTRE silly if you have to.

We need our own powerplant and it will cost us if we can't do it in time.

Didn't China bought the technology from Russia, Radar tech from Israel, Airborne radar from Russia, design of aircraft from Russia, Design and development of a combat chopper from Kamov.

Yes, but China can't afford full scale TOT either. No one in this world can.
