PoK is terrorist controlled part of Kashmir, says Army chief Bipin Rawat

rmy Chief Bipin Rawat on Friday stated that the part of Jammu and Kashmir, which has been occupied by Pakistan, is actually controlled by terrorists.

Speaking at the army commanders' conference, the army chief said that the territory which has been illegally occupied by Pakistan is not controlled by the Pakistani establishment, it is controlled by terrorists.

"PoK is actually a terrorist-controlled part of Pakistan," Bipin Rawat said.

The army chief stressed that "when we say Jammu & Kashmir, the complete state of Jammu & Kashmir includes PoK and Gilgit Baltistan. Therefore, PoK and Gilgit Baltistan become an occupied territory - a territory which has been illegally occupied by our western neighbour."

Army Chief Bipin Rawat said that Article 370 was brought in as a temporary provision. "When Article 370 was introduced with the word temporary there was no objection did not have any objection... therefore why is it that Pakistan has suddenly raised the ante on the Article 370," Bipin Rawat said.

"It is because the territory which has been illegally occupied by Pakistan is not controlled by the Pakistani establishment, it is controlled by terrorists. PoK is actually a terrorist-controlled country or a terrorist-controlled part of Pakistan," the army chief said.

Hope so. Hope this is not another drama. The older people here (myself included) may recall how frustrating it was in the past, with leaders constantly talking about pok while doing nothing.

Just testing waters, nothing concrete.

Lots of inventory gaps needs to be filled to take back PoK.

Primary among them, multiple variants of WhAP. I am not so sure if BMP usage be efficient in mountainous terrain.

If nothing else BMPs can be used initially to provide logistics support to assaulting columns astride unpaved tracks.

Give it to them and they will know how to use those machines including as Missile and Anti Aircraft platforms.

It will be easier to bring Pakistan to a collapse and then take POK rather than taking POK directly. We must adopt a long term strategy for this. Additionally the inhabitants in POK will be a massive problem which needs to be dealt with.

For my information, is there any paper on comparisons between wheeled and tracked APC?

There are many papers but tracked vehicle is the only platform for underdeveloped and difficult terrain.

American shifted to Strykers for their their perceived rodbourne MOUT oriented operations for less than war situations. For regular military terrain there is no alternative to tracked vehicles. Indian Army at least had concluded that doctrinally. A few wheeled APCs are required for specialised purposes including UN Missions only.

In mountains only tracked vehicles an take on the terrain friction at the very limited avenues of ingress and easy slopes.

Me thinks, as long as CAR remains an alternative to future energy supply, Pakistan will remain.
However, there is big contradiction in that approach. The role of China is what the West would always like to diminish from Pakistan. West and USA will have to decide on if they are prepared to concede Pakistan to China and thereby be ready to forego their own access to CAR.

India will be given Pakistan if the later is unacceptable.

And add this to that..

In every western capital there is a silent & strong Chinese lobby. And in the US and UK, there is a strong Pakistan lobby.

Chinese lobby will ensure there is no direct confrontation between US and China, paki lobby will continue to keep dangling some carrot or the other to US and UK to survive harsh retaliation.

Hence my theory Pakistan will never fall apart, as long as ISI is operational.
