The reason why US is desperate to recruit India for China containment is that.. it wants a champion who will bloody China up close. The US strategy increasingly revolves around a siege of China from a distance, so as to avoid China's Area denial weapons. The US does not want to put a lot of boots on the ground and suffer tens of thousands of casualties. They want India to be that cannon fodder.
In world war 2, on the occassion of D-day,there were 228 german divisions on the eastern front against Russia, and 56 divisions arrayed against the invading Americans and British. For a month, these Brits and Americans could not progress much. The Soviet Slege hammer called Operation Bagration destroyed German army group center.. in just a month 50 german divisions were taken out. A panicky Hitler shifted 46 divisions from the west to the east. Only then, when faced with only 12 German divisions did the Americans and the British start to make progress.. The hundreds of Hollywood movies don't talk about this.
