Usual DRDO incompetence which we are now so used to.
What incompetence?Usual DRDO incompetence which we are now so used to.
Let him be...What incompetence?
K4 has already been tested on INS Arihant.
This new info shows that they are testing a new missile.
It is K-5 missile which they are going to test, (first official test and a message to china no messing with India) that is the reason for delay K-4 & K-15 already tested several times and are now operational and can be fired without hiccups. This is new K-5 missile so either they are facing genuine development issues or want to be very sure that it passes test in flying colors but definitely no "strategic restraint or outside pressure" bullshit. Be sure it will be tested very soon.Delhi Defence Review@delhidefence 7h7 hours ago
Sources say the re-scheduling of the K-4 SLBM test that was slated for mid-February was due to technical issues with the launch pontoon.
So it appears to be technical fault. I thought as much in my posts above
But then K4 was tested previously from the same or similar platform and there seemed to be no problems. What could it have been that led to two postponements?
That leads me to the next question- was it really K4 that was being tested?
Suddenly what @lcafanboy said above starts to make more sense. Could it have been something like K4 prime or even K5 in the garb of K4?
New Tests on March 1 and 2For March 17 . Not sure 200 Km s any clue which one is this ???

No , three tracking ships is not required .how can you be sure that it is the K-5 they are testing and not some new variant of the K-4 ? the K-5 would be MIRVed and more tracking ships, etc would be needed for a MIRV test, at least if we believe Prasun Sengupta, who says that 3 tracking ships of a type that was just inducted are required for MIRV testing. Whatever it is, hope it is done soon and successfully without bowing to pressure.
Also, more K-4 firings from the Arihant need to be done, unless they have managed to do some more of those without public notice.
k4 is under development since 2011 what a critical missile it is. it shows complexity of developing slbm.Government Sources: For the second time in the last six days, India, today successfully test-fired the 3,500 km strike range K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile off the coast of Vishakhapatnam. The DRDO-developed missile was testfired from an underwater platform today morning
2.5t is payload capacity. Not warhead size. Some Indian warheds are less than 500kg. How much less exactly ?? No one needs to know. What is being done to minaturise the warhead? At 2.5t it is ten times heavier than Western equivalents and leaves no room for MIRV or penetration aids.
if we can launch 104 satellite in one go, then you know what I mean.2.5t is payload capacity. Not warhead size. Some Indian warheds are less than 500kg. How much less exactly ?? No one needs to know.
BTW chatter is that MIRV has been tested already.
The warhead for Prtihvi is 500kg but it only has 10-20 kT yield. The warhead for K-4 is 200+ kT yield. Work needs to be done to get higher yields for less weight.2.5t is payload capacity. Not warhead size. Some Indian warheds are less than 500kg. How much less exactly ?? No one needs to know.

Work has been done a long time ago.The warhead for Prtihvi is 500kg but it only has 10-20 kT yield. The warhead for K-4 is 200+ kT yield. Work needs to be done to get higher yields for less weight.
we spend billions of dollars every year on our nuclear programme some news paper even reported it upto 5billion $ . we are way more capable what it is thought. The warhead for Prtihvi is 500kg but it only has 10-20 kT yield.
