A darter is in development and we cant wait 3-4 more years..
in the mean time we will get MAA-1B which is considered almost comparable to python 4.

Hence is a good WVR
Brasil has awarded a contract to Denel to build a factory in São José dos Campos to make A-Darter. When Rafale wins F-X2, it will be installed with it as well as all other fighters. A-Darter will finish its trials this year... no MAA-1B completion in sight. What reason is there for Brasil to continue with MAA-1B? It looks like they already gave up on it.

SO you think PAF is lying and so does the Janes?

MAA-1B may be delivered this or next year to PAF.

A darter might enter into production in 2015 but again it wont be ready for export till 2017.

in the Mean tile we will get MAA-1B and onwards 2017 we may either go for A darter(already paf has shown interest in a darter) or if the chinese 5th gen wvr is allowed for export than we can get that

Pakistan will procure Brazilian-made Mectron MAA-1B Piranha 2 short-range infrared-guided air-to-air missiles to arm its Chinese-made JF-17 fighters, according to Pakistani press reports on 5 November. The procurement is reportedly for 100 missiles at a cost of USD108 million.

Pakistan had taken delivery of the MAA-1A Piranha 1 version of this missile in 2010 and had signed a letter of intent to order the more advanced MAA-1B. The reported order would be the first known export sale for the MAA-1B, currently planned to enter service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2012.

@Armand2REP , please translate :D
China has withdrawn from the Sino-Pakistan fighter project. Islamabad is alone to finance its development.

Is this the end of the JF-17? There is uncertainty about the program since China decided to retire with the utmost secrecy about a year ago. Officially, the light fighter no longer meets the needs of its air force.

Signed in 1999, the partnership focused on the development and manufacture of a multirole aircraft in partnership with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and several Chinese companies including Chengdu Aerospace Corporation. The PAF wanted to develop an aircraft to replace its fleet of F-7P and Mirage III / V by 2015. In June 2009, she began the serial production of JF-17 aircraft at the Kamra complex which is 80km from Islamabad (see Air & Cosmos # 2196). Three squadrons, about 50 aircraft are in service today. Problem: the development of the JF-17 is not completed and the aircraft is not fully operational. Several weapons originally forseen have not been validated. The engine, a Klimov RD-93 suffers from 50 year old Soviet-designed technology : emission of air fumes, large thermal signature, lack of thrust ... With the withdrawal of China, PAF is now left by itself to complete the development of its aircraft which could cost them dearly. They will buy the parts from Chinese subcontractors... have to get back to work... blah blah should Pakistan cancel it blah, relying on Mirage would be stupid blah export to Africa Asia blah Pakistan is broke with difficult decisions blah blah.

:bplease:
Serbia intended to buy a plane which can serve it well for next several decades. If not Rafale then Eurofighter or JAS 39 Grippen-NG would be the better choice and Mig-29/35, F-18 and F-16 also competing.
Serbia is in "waiting list" of European Union Membership so buying a Chinese plane is out of question.

PS: Only inbreeding can explain your moronic comments

Guy. France doesn't have anything to do with it. Serbia is integrating into NATO which automatically rules out JF-17. They can't afford new fighters so will buy used F-16s or old Gripens.

I Still remember in 2006-07 There were Pakis who were cursing Saudis when they downselected Typhoon instead of their favorite Rafale via Al-Yamamah Deal on Paki Defence Forums way back when in 2005 Pakis were MOUTHWATERING RAFALES when Mushi was in Europe Pushing French for Rafales, Swedes for Gripens n Italians for Typhoons (obviously out of capability to buy for Pakis) Pakis settled for Donated F-16s Blk-50s for their so called effort on War on TERROR...lol.....

Now Today the Paki of this forum calls French Cheap n Rafale inferior....So only thing that makes Rafales Inferior is for Infidel Indian HINDOOS to USE it against Superior ALLAH BLESSED HIGH QUALITY PAKIS................. PAKI KI MENTALITY INSHALLAH :thumb::laugh::rofl::taunt1:

It doesn't say so. It says Rafale will likely compete. It doesn't say JF-17 and Rafale are shortlisted.

They haven't shortlisted anything... the tender hasn't even begun.
