Because it is in their best interests to do so, if they don't protect alliances they will have to face the enemy alone.I don't understand why? Why would countries get involved?

LF - India and the US do not share any military alliances. Not that I know of.Because it is in their best interests to do so, if they don't protect alliances they will have to face the enemy alone.
India is not going to announce any formal alliance anyone. But look at the interoperability of recent Indian weapons bought with NATO weaponry. C-17,P8-I,AWACS, Brahmos test in the past on US GPS,no news or follow up on Logistic agreement. These are all things that two nations that are working together do.LF - India and the US do not share any military alliances. Not that I know of.
With Russia, we can speculate. However, we do not know what's the pact in the secret pact.
I would like to assume you are correct.India is not going to announce any formal alliance anyone. But look at the interoperability of recent Indian weapons bought with NATO weaponry. Sources???even we have with israeil
That's not possible as the Israeli ambassador put it wisely 2 years ago : "what is a secret, with due respect, will remain a secret".Sources???
If you look at the countries India is doing military exercises with, you can have an idea about what India's tacit alliance is. USA, UK, France, Germany, Russia , Japan, Australia, Malayasia, Indonesia - get any ideas?India is not going to announce any formal alliance anyone. Can't agree more. US and Russia realise the importance of India vis-a-vis China. They know that if they let India lose a war against China, they China would become unstoppable, isn't that a good enough reason for anyone?Because it is in their best interests to do so, if they don't protect alliances they will have to face the enemy alone.
I agree that a full scale war with China is highly unlikely now. But it is inevitable, considering the way things are going.I think all of us are missing one point- what stops India from attacking Pakistan? their nukes, right? now logically, dont you think the same deterrent will apply to China. Would China risk Indian nukes falling on Chinese cities in the event Idia is on the brink of losing a war with China? I knowthat Chinese Nuke arsenal far outnumbers ours, but then, nukes are not only about numbers. Plus India's recent missile developments along with strike packages like the MKI with mid air refuelling, brings a lot of chinese cities under our nuke range.
So therefore, I dont think a wo front war or an all out war with China is likely. What is more likely is those mad Pakis launching a misadventure, but china is highly unlikely to step in......did they do so in Kargil?
Just my two paise!
I thought that between production slow down at HAL and super 30 upgradation, we would NOT have 230 Su-30 MKI by 2015.^^^
