Once in service, you don`t need to change the barrel ever again unless it get damage by some external event ..
When was it officially introduced into infantry?Glad to see improved 1B1 in mass usage ..
When was it officially introduced into infantry?
Or rather..
In which year the distribution en-mass start?
JVPC looks more elegant ,so is the recoil.

The Ordnance Factory Board designed-produced 'Amogh' carbine was bested by the DRDO's MSMC carbine some years ago. Both are now developing the MSMC as the Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC) for the Indian Army. But while the JVPC is still in trials, the 'Amogh' (resolute) is in limited series production having bagged orders from Indian police and paramilitary organisations.

We want Amogh, No MSMC ..
That's Arsenal's stamped receiver AK and indeed the OFT TAR (new variant) does seem to be an AR M1 and M1F41 copy.Indeed, the AK47 shown above seems very similar to a very high quality milled receiver AK 47 made by Arsenal pictured below)....Good job ...Ordnance Factory Tiruchirapalli....

Had ofb shortened Insas excalibur's 16 inch berrel to 14.5 inch one and shed some weight from the current empty weight to 2.9kg from the fatty hand guard section (for example), it would probably evolved into an excellent carbine cum assault rifle version of the insas rifle just like colt's M4. Handguard should also be replaced by more modern retractable and foldable one. Ofb/arde should be flexible and innovative in their design. One main advantage Excalibur has over the amogh or jvpc is that it is chambered by the same round as that of insas 1b1 (5.56x45mm) which negates the logistic burden of using different round by the end user. Both amogh and jvpc are chambered in 5.56x30mm minsas.
It seems like some people are experts in preparing unrealistic tender or changing the goalpost rather than procuring the needy for the men on the ground.
This was from 2009, Excalibur as well as Kalantak micro assault rifle ..
Kalantak was not adopted because the some people complained about high recoil, But the same people have no issues with Galil ace which was same size and has same recoil and saw operational use within SF ..
This forced 5.56 x 30mm round in the picture, Now when we have Amogh and its operational and MSMC cleared its trails during 2016, But their is still 9mm carbine in service and people are busy preparing RFI for carbine tender which failed before.
The Ordnance Factory Board [OFB] of India is getting ready to supply its all-new new Sniper Rifle to an undisclosed customer ( CRPF ). It, recently, floated a couple of tenders seeking accessories for the rifle. One is a '3-12x50 Grade Telescope with Eye Relief & Mil Dot'. The other, a '9-13" Tilt Adjustment Smooth Leg Bipod'. It has expressed a requirement of 85 of each. Some time back, it had floated a related tender for suitable Rifle casing solution, possibly, for storage & transportation of the firearm. The OFB's Rifle Factory Ishapore is the lead organisation in the project.
Source : http://www.aame.in/2017/01/rifle-factory-ishapores-sniper-rifle.htmlThe OFB built this, 7.62 mm bullet firing rifle, in response to a 2012 Indian Army-issued GSQR. It strikes a disconsonant note, when viewed alongside IA's recent requirement of a Sniper rifle firing more powerful 8.6 mm bullets. A flip-flop approach towards acquisition, helping no one.
Yeah,Ishapore Rifles are quite famous in western gun markets.
Like Kunal Dada said once somewhere here,we should've converted these Ishapore 2A1s into bolt action sniper rifles, similar to those L42 Lee-Enfield Sniper Rifles which were used by SAS and other commonwealth armies.
Edit: Indeed OFB had produced a sniper variant of Ishapore 2A1,but it seems like many other guns made by OFB/DRDO it went in vain.
