I don't think army is going to replace The new OFB 7.63×51 rifle or any other assault rifle competing in the tender, after such rigorous trials with MCIWS/ AAR. It doesn't makes sense to devote so much time and money just to replace it within few years.I believe both are going to compete in the trials or simply AAR program has been closed.

People like Sandeep Unnithan shouldn't be trusted as they disinformed the public with their nonesense. The nomenclature MCIWS is changed into AAR (Advance Assault Rifle) since IA tender for multi caliber rifle was scrapped. AAR programme is progressing very fine and until it arrives insas 5.56 Nato Excalibur and the new OFB 7.62 Nato rifle will be the stop gap arrangement.

His comment:

10 rounds on single shot down a 50 m firing range. The verdict: terrific noise and recoil, which aren't positives. The OFB is working on a AK-74 style sound suppressor which should reduce noise levels. Not sure what you can do to reduce the recoil from a full power cartridge though.

The AK-74 muzzle break actually does a terrific job reducing recoil but greatly increases the noise report.

The recoil problem actually comes out of the long stroke piston system too. Hence why IWI chose to change to a short-stroke piston on its new Tavor 7.62 model. Long stroke is very reliable and proven but there is lot of moving mass internally in the gun which adds to the already heavy recoil of the 7.62 round.

we can hope that the final product will adhere to the standards of the modern fire arms. AAR can mate with this new rifle to give rise to even more potent rifle but it is appalling to observe that india despite of its vast resources cannot come up with the mechanism for recoil mitigation. its not that such systems are shrouded behind some curtains as one can find different types of such mechanism with just a simple google search. DOWNLOAD TOR browser and surf the the deep net for complete info including semantics and engg drawings of them. what is needed is capability to assimilate.

CAN ANYBODY tell me that is AAR is developed just in 5.56 mm or it will seek its development in the original plan, the one with the development of three calibers.?

Too much noise.

That makes it a bit harder to move up the selection process.

Even Lee Enfield 303 makes less noise. Although I know about its noise in the open only and not in a firing range.

OFB would have to spend next six months working on the noise.

Comparing both videos side by side, I think that recoil is same but OFB rifle is making louder noise thus giving the look that it's recoil is greater than Ace. The voice suppressor that OFB is working on may help to overcome the issue.
Definitely, great comparision and review of the two video. What we miss while comparing the two is that the Galil's video is in the open field while ofb's is in indoor. So definitely sounds produce by both the rifles will be different. That's is the only reason why ofb 7.62 nato rifle appears to produce louder noise then the galil 7.62 nato. Rest assured.

All those who're comparing Noise of OFB 7.62 NATO to Galil ACE one, keep in mind the video on ACE is recorded in an open arena, while OFB one is in a confined space with walls near to the shooter so it may boost sound level of the gun. Also,ACE one video seems to be modified via softwares before uploading on Youtube so they might've reduced the sound level on that one to make it sound 'pleasant' to ears of viewers, while OFB one is directly posted on the internet without any sort of editing hence it gives us 'true' sound of the gun.

Already noted the difference in open and closed space noise.

Let the Indian rifle go thru tests. Let the army not reject on flimsy grounds. They are experts in rejecting. They have rejected Indian made Ghatak, Excalibur, MICW, and for a long time foul mouthed the INSAS -1B and a few more.

The only point worth noting is that Indian rifle manufacturing base at Ishapore as well as Trichy be modernized thoroughly.
