You're right. It is indeed in limited service with Assam Rifles.I had seen this in service with AR as far as I remember. Let me confirm after my next visit.
Few days back I had an opportunity to have a look at Excalibur too in a demo. But my badluck, it was all for some dignitaries and civilians like me were not allowed to click any snap of it. But let me tell you. If you get to have INSAS 1B and 1C along with Excalibur, you would just fall in love with it. Atleast I did... . Its look is much more better then regular INSAS and even its length is shorter then 1B. The all black furniture just mesmerize you along with its feather light touch at trigger and overall weight. Even while cocking, it feels much more smooth then its counterparts. You're right. It is indeed in limited service with Assam Rifles.
Excalibur was developed by OFB but not inducted by the army. OFB ,DRDO ,DGQA along with the Army associated to develop a new 5.56 rifle which was an improvement over Insas rifle and Excalibur ,this rifle is called as Insas 1C.What's the difference between the INSAS Rifle1C and the Excalibur?

Wait for end of next year, we might see a new bolt action sniper rifle as well as light weight AMR.A question - I've seen the Dragunovs used as DMRs with the RR and some other units. I've seen one photo of a SLR with an optical sight with the AP Greyhounds but while I have seen optical sights developed for INSAS and a few in use, why aren't a few issued to each section to support the Dragunov and also are there any photos of the Indian army using the SLR in the DMR role with optical sights (not night vision sights - a few of those photos exist)? Thanks for any help.
