1. Actually OFB provide P-rail over OFB rail..

-----------------

2. Its a carrying handle..

It was in GSQR, As Solider were familiar with FAL earlier and this was in FAL..

Piece of cake to spot the difference. :cool2:

1) I thought that Excalibur had P-rail. Why is there an INSAS rail on it?
2) What is that weird looking handle like thingy on the side of rifles like L1A1 SLR, and INSAS, and on the side of guns like SAW?

Afaik, it failed due to overheating and accuracy..
Ok, now I'm just confused, I need to sort my head out. Wasn't it the Amogh and the MINSAS that failed due to overheating? I don't get any info about that on the Kalantak. Come to think of it, I don't see any news on Kalantak at all, just pages that describe what it is.

I might be wrong, but I don't think the Kalantak has failed the user-trials yet.

If you say so. I guess I'm just confused because of the number of variants the INSAS has.

BTW I just came across this pic on Pg 31 here.

How have they mounted a MARS sight on the INSAS? I didn't know that the OFB rails was compatible with foreign sights.

Out of all the variants, Kalantak 07 carbine was my favorite. Oh well.

one of the Indian company tried to sell Israeli MARS sight for INSAS, since it was already on Tavor Rifles, but it was rejected by IA. If you see closely it block the iron sight. so soldiers dont have second option if MARS battery goes dead.

Now see the best design made by OFB.

beauty of this product.

notice just above rail attachment you see gap.

slightly visible from the left side at the bottom

in this pic too it is visible

It allow the soldier to use iron sight along with this sight, incase his battery goes dead. This is smart design from our guys.

butt stock with cheek guard is very important when there is a issue for optics, also new generation butt stocks are more comfortable and shorter..

3 side quad rail is very good Idea..

--------------------

The present configuration looks Very Good :

1. 3 side quad rail, This will reduce weight..

2. Modern Butt stock, This will reduce weight & Length..

3. Full P-RAIL but OFB style as they did in AMOGH..

4. Accessories as per need of the user..

Same can be applied for INSAS 1B1..
