I have to wonder if it is the same used in house siding.

Came across this old post...

AFAIK, house sidings use Gypsum boards over framing and dry-walling. Asbestos is hazardous to health and is primarily used only for industrial purposes.

Though in countries like India, corrugated asbestos sheets are still used for roofing in slums due to its low cost.

That's a legacy of the ship's original function, which was more surface-combatant than carrier.

In addition to the post below, please note that Baku/Gorshkov was a Tactical Aviation Cruiser, not an Aircraft Carrier per se, and it couldn't be too large because (1) it would have been too expensive, and (2) it couldn't pass through the Bosphorus.

That's a legacy of the ship's original function, which was more surface-combatant than carrier.
