Yes but none of them are as fked up as Indian cities. Even in SEA countries like Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand. They all have deprived areas, but generally main cities have much better cleanliness and roads than 99% of Indian cities.

The roads look like a typical indian city in the first half, yet there is negligible amount of litter/garbage on the street
It most of the times looks like any Indian city. Whats there that would be an inspiration? Inspiration would’ve been Jakarta but we never planned our cities nor did the builders wanted to build commercial highrises in BKC.

Couldnt disagree more. This country doesnt get criticized enough. Most problems stem from the complete lack of accountability of our babooze and criminally low expectations from the people. If the people themselves wont expect proper roads, drainage and clean street, why would the politicians do it. Only when important foreigners come, these idiots scramble like clowns to do the very basics
That doesn't mean you start abusing, and the issue is not people expecting but how they behave even with a dustbin in train they will throw the plastic wrappers outside train.

You can criticize as much as you want but don't abuse.

And one more thing constant negative critisism will not get you anywhere, this argument of critisism is given so many times that in the name of it people start badmouthing the country itself, if you like other country that's your choice but that doesn't grant you liberty to say anything, you should criticise, don't want to stop in doing that, but there should be a limit in words which you choose while doing that.

And are you ready to pay the overhead costs which will come up if the infra you are expecting is there. In a typical city if there is good infra then the property cost is around minimum 30 40% higher, where the costs are already too high.

Wrong.

That you will find in Indore, just need people participation which is there. Not in other cities.

Approval is different from ground work commencement.

Why cant every district just focus on acquiring a 1000 hectare land parcel every year and develop it on the likes of the proposed and failed amaravati. Properly designed grid with roads and footpaths and then sell these plots to property developers. Gautham buddh district is the only one in the entire country that is doing this (1000 hectare every few years)
other than big metros, few capitals and their surrounding areas, state and local muncipal governments do not have the cash flow even for initial investments for these kind of projects.

Lol its very possible. Indians only have excuses to not enact such policies because of dumbocracy and complete deficiency in planning and law enforcement. Such plans were enacted by both Americans and the chinese. Even no name tier 109212312 chini cities are 10x more developed than the most developed Indian cities. America may be on the decline, but with a few exceptions, even their poorest towns have clean drinkable tap water and all sorts of basic health/education facilities that even today, few Indian cities can boast of.

^ I wonder if any indian city can match this even in 50 years time.

The footpath example posted above is the perfect example. Indian cities build 1 or 2 token roads that actually resemble a developed city and call it a day. Indian youtubers will then chest thump about these 2 roads that doesnt resemble a 4th world slum and ignore the remaining 99% of roads that resembles sub saharan africa.
3 trillion dollar is not enough to make a clean city. We need 10 trillion to look half of what is there in china.

Stuff Like zoning and planning does not take much Investment and whatever little investment it takes goes on to aid the city in a very positive manner, the admin is simply making no attempt to improve the situation.
But yes money defiantly is a factor we do not pay enough taxes to facilitate top class cities.

Now wtf is this? Sky Bus didn’t work in Goa, first build Metro and Metrolites in Bangalore before experimenting.
View attachment 171246

Sky bus is literally an inverted Monorail ffs.
Yeah .. one of those things that looks good on paper . He is looking at how little space this takes and little else.
Metro Bangalore is there but many important neighbourhoods have been left out of phase 1 and 2 .. a feeder metrolite would actually be useful.

Creating such sidewalks isn't even rocket science, this can be done even in tier 4 cities granted that it is planned.
All indian institutions without exceptions lack standards and hence any bullshit is sighted as acceptable.
All the Civil enginners are only good for accumulating black money.
There is a rural development role in every block exclusively for civil engineers yet you must have never heard anything positive contributed by them.
Liberally we have officers for everything yet none of them serve any purpose.

Gadkari is a complete idiot. The more I learn of him the more I realize this. Build a tramway, much cheaper. Build bus stops.
Ya'll Nibbiars No space to build Trams and bus stops in the narrow lanes of the Bengaluru
