Chandrayaan - 2 Latest Update
Chandrayaan-2 mission was a highly complex mission, which represented a significant technological leap compared to the previous missions of ISRO, which brought together an Orbiter, Lander and Rover to explore the unexplored south pole of the Moon. Since the launch of Chandrayaan-2 on July 22, 2019, not only India but the whole world watched its progress from one phase to the next with great expectations and excitement. This was a unique mission which aimed at studying not just one area of the Moon but all the areas combining the exosphere, the surface as well as the sub-surface of the moon in a single mission. The Orbiter has already been placed in its intended orbit around the Moon and shall enrich our understanding of the moon’s evolution and mapping of the minerals and water molecules in the Polar Regions, using its eight state-of-the-art scientific instruments. The Orbiter camera is the highest resolution camera (0.3m) in any lunar mission so far and shall provide high resolution images which will be immensely useful to the global scientific community. The precise launch and mission management has ensured a long life of almost 7 years instead of the planned one year. The Vikram Lander followed the planned descent trajectory from its orbit of 35 km to just below 2 km above the surface. All the systems and sensors of the Lander functioned excellently until this point and proved many new technologies such as variable thrust propulsion technology used in the Lander. The success criteria was defined for each and every phase of the mission and till date 90 to 95% of the mission objectives have been accomplished and will continue contribute to Lunar science , notwithstanding the loss of communication with the Lander.

Far from being that. We obviously didn't get what we wanted. But if we are humiliated where most rest of world is? Nowhere even around us.
Sending another mission in rush won't only show India's desperation but will also have risk of similar failure. India should stick to its timeline and maintain that it isn't competing with anyone.
Things will fall in line once our tech matures.

900 cr down the drain. Do tou know that lander/rover set didn't even hold a third of value?
Bhai Meray all this halla gulla was about lander...it was all about first to land on South pole of moon & we failed period. Israel will succeed with their second moon attempt...a tiny nation like Israel will be fourth on moon not India. we need to send one within a year, this time we can compensate orbiter with a bigger lander with more fuel....govt should release a budget for a moon mission immediately.
Eh! Why did they cluttered orbiter with such expensive and complex instruments if the aim was only soft landing?

Soft landing was part of mission which failed.
Your understanding is very childish. In science everything is a process and the measure of success is to see how far along have we come in the process since last time.

And we have come far along. The orbitar is more sophisticated than lats attempt. The lander reached 90% of its path flawless before mishap.

Regarding USA , china let them laugh. If we ever cared for their laughing we wouldn't dare to attempt.
Wrong instruments on orbiter are complex not the orbiter itself.

That's precisely what I wrote. You've got comprehension problems.

I don't think the Americans are laughing at this unfortunate albeit temporary setback. I think there has been collaborations between NASA and ISRO for this mission. In fact, NASA was sent its first laser reflector supposed to be placed on the moon since Apollo in the Chandrayaan-2 mission:

50 Years After Apollo, India Is Carrying a NASA Laser Reflector to the Moon (And It's Only the Start)

A "microreflector" retroreflector that is currently on its way to the lunar surface.

It was more about landing on moon only as only USA, USSR and PRC have performed it.

Your "humiliation" jibe is bullsh!t as your proposal for rushed re-conduction of same mission.

Only Brits & Pakis on their forums are making fun of it, as if they don't demean even when India is successful (primarily to soothe themselves & downplay the shame of their failing & failed nations).
Israel will succeed with their second moon attempt...a tiny nation like Israel will be fourth on moon not India.
Israel never sent any moon to mission on its own. It was on a Falcon 9. In terms payloads, nowhere near. No way its any sort of independent lunar landing.

Comparison between both agencies is good as between Indian rockets & Pakistani missiles.

Why government never sent a mission to compete with Israel or anyone? They sent as per second phase of Chandrayaan program.

If government conducts same mission again without any in-situ sampling module, Indian government will be humiliated for its desperation in real then.

Indian government in fact needs to take a break & first focus on Gaganyaan. Thereafter, new generation mission. Desperation & conduction of redundant mission will only reflect fanboyism.

I'm pretty happy that ISRO is mature & fanboys like you are far away from such administrations.
Wrong instruments on orbiter are complex not the orbiter itself.
Orbiter is an assembly of those complex instruments, lander is a structure with instruments while rover is a remote controlled or autonomous cart with instruments.

Most obviously, orbiter is most complex. Case is different that we have experience of orbital insertion or landing.

Nobody with even rudimentary understanding of science is laughing I know. It was just a response to an idiotic post. NASA people after all are 30% + Indians .

@south block needs to shove this up in his brain.

Well that's fake. A rumour spread over internet here & there. NASA has Indians and people from other nations but not in such big percentages. They are proportional to their population in USA.

here comes the certificate holders on patriotism...this mission is a failure period. 8 years of R&D down the drain, along with taxpayer money. It was all about building tech for landing & not about orbiter. Chinks, American & others are laughing behind our back even if they don't show it openly....ISRO need to accept the humiliation & launch a mission within a year, they don't even need to send a orbiter now.

Look and learn at how serious space exploration/capabilities is actually founded on:

Everytime they fail they become better at it.

Failure for you, not for ISRO , not for Indians , Not for world space agencies ,not for humanity.
You probably dont even understand a S of space and try to humiliate ISRO lol , keep up with keyboard humiliation , ISRO gives a shit about what u say
Or why dont u say give ISRO exam and see for yourself if u can clear it

they should send one more within a year ,for all the talk about this mission being successful cause of orbiter. It was not about orbiter but about lander & technology to land....this is a humiliation not an achievement....8 years down the drain along with 900cr.
Porki spotted.. do you know anything about science... Ha ha

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief, K Sivan to ANI:We've found the location of #VikramLander on lunar surface&orbiter has clicked a thermal image of Lander. But there is no communication yet. We are trying to have contact. It will be communicated soon. #Chandrayaan2 https://t.co/1MbIL0VQCo

If they are still trying to get comms it means it maybe didn't crash land. Let's pray for the best.

Isro chief Sivan confirmed that they have spotted the lander by analysing thermal images sent by orbiter, trying to establish contact.

Guys there is hope!

The landing algorithm worked, a little glitch though. Let’s wait for more data from Data.

Poor Pakistanis who tried to down play ISRO :brahmos:
