I think the Russian Luna 25 will reach the moon orbit before us and perhaps land on the surface before we do.

Why do you think so? Do you have any sources?

Chandrayaan 3 vs Luna 25,

Luna shall be riding on much more powerful rocket which shall help it launch into Lunar Transfer Orbit earlier. But given Luna25 shall be launching Aug 13 tentatively - I guess both shall be landing roughly around same week.

Exactly i don't know the details of the Russian schedule but unlike us, Russia will send it directly to the Trans lunar orbit when the rocket is launched on early August.It means the spacecraft will reach the moon's orbit within a week and perhaps land before us.

If you consider Russia and USSR as the same country, it wouldn't bother you one bit. India's still in the fourth order even if Luna-25 lands first

No one's interested on what position India gets. Most people are just eager to see how Chandrayaan 3 performs while descent and landing. That's one important knowledge that ISRO must get a handle on.

Requesting members to not arse themselves with what foreners are saying, learn to appreciate and enjoy your own achievements without looking for validation. Validation isn't the purpose of these missions, tomorrow if we dig helium 3 from moon that it will serve our own purpose won't matter to anyone else

Russia says Luna-25 will land before Chandrayaan 3

俄专家：俄罗斯“月球-25”号探测器将比印度“月船-3”号更早登月

俄罗斯卫星通讯社莫斯科7月14日电 俄罗斯科学院航天研究所高级研究员纳坦·艾斯蒙特表示，如果一切顺利，俄罗斯“月球-25”号探测器将比印度的“月船-3” 号提前几天罗在月球表面。

艾斯蒙特称：“我们的探测器应当于8月21日登陆。11日升空，而后5天时间飞行，进入近月轨道，而后用5天时间从椭圆环月轨道变为近圆形环月轨道。”
So Luna-25's landing date is 21 Aug if launched as planned
