They already do. The standard 5.56 cartridge in use is a dervatove of SS109 rounds, that comes with a hardened steel core.

Not a scheme. Basically a leafy twig painted over with matching olive or sand colour to give the same look as the operating environment. There are other variants of sheet, wash bag etc etc.
