With all due respect, I agree with most things you say here but not this. The environment and the threat under which pligrimage is carried out is too immense and great to leave it to a police. Dare I say that this scene is unparalled to any piligrimage in the world.

It may not be ideal to use SF for this but we do not have a dedicated protection force trained for it. Could be handled by regular RR or the Army but never the local police. Also usage of special forces is not unheard of even in a western world at critical events.

SF for force protection on your own soil? Yes this is thoroughly backwards nations territory, you won’t find comparable situations in any advanced country.

CAPFs have ample capacity to handle this, they have their own specialised units. Reducing ‘SF’ to this shows how pointless those units really are, glorified security guards now

SFs were deployed by other western countries in case of special occassions. I can completely understand that it is not the mandate of the SF but do not see any harm if they are part of larger security apparatus. I am sure CAPF is also part of the appratus. According to current situation we do not have an option but to provide security in the that region atleast eventhough it is our own soil. Too many innocent lives at stake to leave it alone for one agency.

I'm not sure it makes sense to necessarily believe any ex-CIA official, they are trained to lie and misleading, so why should anyone claims be taken at face value. If something was classified, I don't really see CIA officials breaking the law with no consequences.

BTW, I also find it very odd that these "aliens" and their crafts only go to the US to crash, never in Africa or Asia.

Stop being so damn salty 24*7 , U.S navy seals and UDT used to take part in spacecrew recovery all the time and they still do.
Navy seals also run security for NFL matches several times, you seethe too much, there are better things to focus on about our current sf condition rather then

Sometimes situations arise where you have to place your best and most effective asset even outside their mandate, what will you do when requirement arises and no units fit the mandate , you always wont have time to create unit from ground up.
