Not viable, except for PR events.
1. Lack of 'impact' & thus any reliable judgements
2. Low reliability of equipment

And paintball is being used for trg since decade now, most military & federal/police SOF have phased them out for Simunition Trgs.

Yea felt so that's why I asked paintballs and laser tags seems to be the best way to go

Ok yes, apologies. Para SF were recently seen with Simunition kits during OBUA trg!
Won't comment on latter.
Also, SPG uses Simunitions.

One big advantage that airsoft gives over things like paintball is the feel . Well made airsoft guns like BCM MCMRs have essentially the same controls and everything like an exact AR15 , a person practicing with airsoft for a long time will never have problems with things like safety,reloads,malfunction,wepons manupulation , flagging ,sights, zeroing etc . Essentially he is half trained already on that weapon .
Paintball lacks the feel also you can't mount optics on them . They can be used for tactic training but not weapon training .
Simunitions are the best when it comes to feel , but are costly as hell and jam so much that they become a pain in the ass as the load is too weak to cycle properly causing ejection issues .
