bu but saltwater bad for guns, what if we wear it out in the exercise. AKs are fine, have plenty in storage. The fact here is the amount of money spent on the individual commando even is criminally low for a modern professional military of a big nation. Hence crap like plastic wrapping your precious service weapon during a simulation exercise, keeping your sights and scopes inside your pocket, etc.
