IAF were indigenising Russian NL-93 NVG for mi 27 helis.
Maybe this could be used by infantry too.
This article states that. Don't know the progress.

Found this:

NL 93 is for aviators and not for infantry

You can't use NVGs for helo's for infantry. Apeture, field range, depth etc all different

Cool thing I found today!
Field of view of monocular/single tube NVG compared to modern quad tube/panoramic NVG!

Even a double tube is better. JSOC still uses a mix of double and quads.

Now you understand that we have a very shallow capability of night operations. And that's why we do day light or early light ops instead. You CQB with monos through a building and you'r are peripheral blind.

Training and technology go hand in hand.

So while this is a capability we are now trying to build , a big bulk of the world has been here since 2004. That's 15+ years of experience refining that capability which we are starting on

A thought crossed my mind today. Someone I know of Indian origin and lives in England (extremely wealthy) loves showing off his ex SAS driver/bodyguard. Mukesh Ambani personal (private) security detail is manned by a mix of Ex indian and Israeli SF /intel guys.
Hairing done there through pmc. and pmc only recruit ex soldiers, According to a study from 2003 the PMC industry was worth over $100 billion a year. In US private contractors make up 35% of the workforce and cost the equivalent of 55% of their personnel budgets.

Not just buildings, they hide in orchards, barns, underground tunnels, dense forests, etc. They are helped by stone pelters in escaping, OGWs sometimes shelter them in homes. It's an absolute nightmare for any CI op. Which is why you often hear about terrorists breaking cordon and escaping. To do night operations you probably can't just equip the assault team, you'd need to equip the men in the outer perimeters as well. We just don't have the numbers right now.

Well in an ideal world with no budgetary or ROE limitations. The outer perimeter would be a mix grid of roving patrols and UAVs with assaulters on cheetahs / AlHs doing interdiction of runners.

But it's not just equiping with NVGs but also the tech on them

With our ROE limitations, the best we can do is equip our troops. And train them for night ops..
Are RR units even capable of conducting night ops?

Talking of Indian army units - from armoured to infantry to special forces and associated ISR and Rotary assets. All have limited only night fighting capability
In the SFs I think it has more to do with training. One would think they would absorb as much as possible from Vajra Prahar exercise. Does not seem to be the case.. What is preventing them from improving training standards? (Referring to firearms and Night fighting only)

Nice, one of the few real training clips of these guys out there that isn't from a pre-scripted media event. Also cool to see them training in larger groups than a single squad or a buddy pair as they often display for tv shows, the fire and manoeuvre drills were a good watch.

This is certainly more aggressive and fluid than they usually demonstrate and their shooting drills seem pretty competent just a shame they don't show transitions or reloads which have in the past seemed incredibly cumbersome and ill-practiced by modern standards.

+ once again I have to say it- their equipment is PATHETIC and I hope this is the final nail in the coffin of any fanboys that had been clinging to the hope (as absurd as it sounds) that they keep their super Gucci equipment for the real world and away from cameras, the reality is even worse. The gear they show at army day demos or to TV cameras isn't even rolled out to frontline units (of course anyone paying attention already knew this given their miserable state in Kashmir).

Single tube NVGs over a jungle cap has got to the be cherry on top of this disgrace, most of the operators didn't even seem to have any night vision in the night ops.

US Mil SOFs proudly brag about "owning the night", Indian SFs are pure amateurs in this regard.

Until they get their helps shot out of the sky at night or worse when they crash one right on top on OBL 😂,. Last I checked our boys clocked several dozens in Myanmar and POK without anyone having a clue death was upon them.

Chill nigga, don't get your panties in a bunch.
