Helmet with ear protection and communication devices still missing.... Ye sar par dupatta Kyun bandhate hain Sabhi? I never got the point
Special Group is perhaps the only Indian unit which uses ComTacs. They have Ballistic FAST helmets and advanced combat helmets. Their helmets have the provision of all types of accessories and have comms integrated into them, according to Shatrujeet.

Refer to my older posts which have photos of SG operators wearing ComTacs and ear-pros or see the images in this article:

Ear pro on shooting ranges is available with everyone. Even regular infantry ranges have good quality noise-cancelling headphones from companies like 3M.

But they are not communication systems. You can't plug in a radio to them.

I remember seeing many SG operators with high-cut helmets (Crye Airframe as well), but I don't think I remember seeing any using those high-cuts in conjunction with comm headsets. Do post any if you find.

TBH I haven’t seen any either. But Shatrujeet is a somewhat credible source. If they say that SG has high-cuts with integrated comms, it’s believable to me.

1)"We just had to ask for equipment and it would be given," a former SG officer told India Today. A request for over 100 bulletproof vests and tactical helmets was met almost overnight and the gear flown in from Israel in the 1980s, according to India Today.

2)SG was the first Indian unit to use AK-47. It was secretly imported from Europe upon SG’s farmaaish.

3) before op Bluestar, SG trained on recreated landscapes having busy streets, maze of buildings and vehicles.

These points indicate that SG has the wherewithal and the resources to build and buy expensive stuff; they are
raees.

Therefore, I don’t doubt Shatrujeet’s assertions about SG having high-cuts with integrated comms.

I think the first AK was used just after 1971 war from the 93000 surrendered Pakis.

I don't doubt it. But unless we have something to show for it it's the same as the Pakistanis saying we have ICBM called Timur

I wish all these handles would simply blur/pixelate the faces using photoshop or some free online tool instead of using these stupid stickers. It makes the whole pic look cartoonish.

SFF already had it and many wer captured from Chinese and also NE rebels even before 1971 war.But thanks to short sightedness of army brass it was not widely circulated among Para even when they went for Lanka. How much cost woyld hav incurred to arm 3 commando batallions back then with dirt cheap Russian Aks.But army was Ok with SLRs and sterlings for their elite units

We had a choice between paying Rs. 2000 for an AK vs Rs. 16,000 for an INSAS.
We chose the INSAS.
We know how well that decision played out for the forces.

Dont know why NSG is still buying MP5s and even Uzi Pros when they could buy much better MP7s 🤦‍♀️.
H&K won't sell the MP7 to India cause we are not a NATO nation. Also, NSG has stopped purchasing MP5s and has shifted to B&T MP9s, SIG MPX and SCARs.

About MP7 sale to Indian, its got nothing to do with India being a non NATO nation. In mid or late 2000s India tired to buy them, but Germany refused sale due to human rights issues. There was an article about it in Outlook magazine and besides MP7, we tried to buy UMP and USP from H&K.

Thanks to the government for giving credit to the Special Units which are involved.

The UPA attitude of not giving permission or clearence or to deny things was not the best approach.

The best weapons are those which are never used.

Publicity is a must for SF..i disagree with whoever says publicity is bad for SF.

We must be having close to a brigade of SF unit deployment in the clash point i guess.
Agree ! Publicize the SF but not the Ops and details.

Sorry but NO unit in India currently have "comms integrated headset" as of this day....

Integrated comms is something and Ear Pro is an other thing & then there's Electronic Ear Pro with integrated comms ...

As of this day we only have seen an Electronic Ear Pro (no integrated comms !!!) on an indian soldier is that recent one with the Carl Gustaf M4... previous ones were all maybe just ear muffs; correct me if i am wrong🙄

Those Comtacs type of device's primary object is to minimize the loud noise and amplify the ambient noise to increase situational awareness & then they have comms integrated in them so you can use them for communication also.

And we all know by this day, that Indian Army has no provision for hearing protection apart from aviation and it's support.

So theoretically, they never actually felt the requirement of these type of stuff for general or special operation situations atleast till recent times.

Notice, i'm not saying that they don't have it because it's expensive and they can't afford it...rather they actually never thought of requiring some things like this ( there are plenty of tweets from retired generals in twitter to justify this )🤨

Then how come they are selling Mp-5s, Msg-90s and PSG to various forces. There was an article on NSG not opting Mp7 citing the uncommon ammo. But afaik the ammo used in Mp5s too are imported and not made in India.
