MARCOS are the only forces in India who are allowed to sport a beard.
You forgot the Sikh & muslim troops (trimmed beards, not long unkept ones) :)
All SF units and units operating in COIN are permitted to wear facial hair to "blend in".

Although iam glad to see NSG hub in Hyderabad, but doesn't make any change if not taken necessary steps.

Hyderabad is the main base for Terrorism activities in south india. When needed, NSG should always be available to react quick. The NSG hub in Hyderabad is located near Tirumalgiri(Cantonment area). It takes around 40-50mins to reach in the heart of the city in normal days.

For Anti-Terrorism force, Its very important to have Helicopters for quick response. Back in 26/11 NSG came to their target location in a City Bus

No, Kerala is. Hyderabad was, till the 1990's. The Naidu regime flushed out most of the scum. While YSR was proficient at anti-Naxal strategy, Naidu was equally proficient at cleaning up Old City.

Without derailing the topic, I think the larger reason why Hyderabad got an NSG hub ahead of Bangalore (which is more centrally-located in South India), is because Delhi anticipates that the Telangana struggle will enter an extremist phase. Delhi is right with that assumption. There is a very real possibility of an extremist fountainhead of the Telangana struggle taking shape.

Some alienated terrorist incidents in kerala doesn't mean kerala is the new terror capital. And i have many muslim friends and no one is having an anti india nor anti hindu sentiments and like you they just are awared about the terror activities only through the media which i can assure.May be there are some isolated incidents but don't judge them as wide spread in kerala.

Malabar region is hub of terrorist groups. half of the Islamic/Jihadi terrorist from South India comes from Kerala. Of course all are not terrorist but many terrorist from banned groups like SIMI, IM do come from that small region.

Kerala: Now terror's own backyard in India

How SIMI set up terror shop in Kerala once again with ease

And I'm not referring to KL as terror hub on the basis of those alienated incidents, but sleeper cells, rising fundamentalism, etc.

In the 90s, when Hyderabad was a terror hub, it was not on grounds of terrorist attacks in Hyderabad, but hatched by sleeper cells from Hyderabad.

Tavors With Indian Para Commandos

Tavors With Indian Para Commandos

The IMI Tavor TAR-21 assault rifle is a fairly common sight now, deployed in significant numbers with the special forces, paramilitary, Rashtriya Rifles and other units. Saw these Indian Army para commandos at Exercise Sudarshan Shakti yesterday.

Indo-Polish special forces exercise - Tiger Claw 1

Indian-Polish special forces exercise "Tiger Claw 1"

For the first time in the history of the Polish Special Forces commandos took part in an exercise in the tropical jungle. On 15-28 November 2011 in the territory of India held a combined Indo-Polish special forces exercise pk. Tiger Claw first

The aim was to include exercises to improve the ability to conduct combined operations przeciwterrorystycznych in a tropical jungle. Exercise was held in Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) capable of Mizoram (India). The exercise was attended by operators of the Polish Armed Forces Special Forces and soldiers of the 21st Indian special forces battalion.

In the opinion of the Polish Ambassador in New Delhi, Professor Peter KÅ‚odkowskiego "The first in the history of the two countries joint military exercise proves that the relations between the Polish and India there has been a historic rapprochement that will give impetus to further military cooperation between our countries." According to the Indian "Polish Special Forces soldiers presented a high combat value, efficiently and professionally performing tasks received under extreme environmental conditions."

Both the Polish side, and India have expressed their willingness to continue existing cooperation.

Exercise is practically marked the beginning of cooperation between Polish and Indian special forces. Special Forces commandos during exercise have acquired valuable experience to enable them to include survival and conducting special operations in a tropical jungle. NSG commando missing in action?

Wife fears that Om Prakash Shukla, has either been abducted or killed by militants; wants NSG to trace him

"Where is my husband?" questioned a teary-eyed Sudha Shukla, wife of Om Prakash, a National Security Guard (NSG) commando, who has been missing since November 3 from his regiment in Srinagar. For Sudha, who has been running from pillar to post, hoping to get news about her husband's whereabouts, says that she is being constantly haunted by the thoughts that her husband has either been abducted or preyed upon by the militants.

Untraceable? NSG Commando Om Prakash Shukla has been missing
from his regiment in Srinagar since November 3. (Inset) MiD DAY had
published the story on Jan 29, about how his senior in Marol was forcing
Shukla to polish his shoes

Earlier, MiD DAY had reported ('NSG commando called to Delhi', Jan 29) that Shukla, on January 11, had written to the Director General of the NSG in New Delhi, (copy available with MiD DAY), complaining against Major Mohammed Israil of Marol unit, for treating him and his colleagues as slaves. In his letter, Shukla had stated that they were made to shine their superior's shoes, do the laundry and run sundry errands, befitted for a domestic help. He had even requested for a posting at Srinagar's 144 regiment.

According to Sudha, her husband had left their MIDC house on September 1 to join his duty. However, just a fortnight ago, she received a call from her hometown in Allahabad that Om Prakash had gone missing, and if in case he was at home, should report to duty immediately. Sudha added that each time Om Prakash left his regiment; he would call her informing her about his whereabouts. However, for the last two months, she hasn't received a single phone call from Om Prakash.

"For the past few days, I've been receiving calls from the CRPF officials, informing me that my husband has gone missing. They officers have even lodged a missing person's report with the Srinagar police. We had a conversation before he went missing. I am scared that he must have been shot by the terrorists or must have been taken as a hostage. With Shivam (6) and Shreya (4) at my side, it's impossible for me to lock them up and go in search of my husband," bemoaned Sudha. "However, I want to contact NSG superiors, and seek their help in tracing my husband."

The filthy superior must have murdered him. Strict action must be taken on this Barbarian who is a MAJOR in the INDIAN ARMY. Shame on the Officer to do such immoral thing. He must be court-martial-ed to save the image of the INDIAN ARMY.:mad2:

from the past few days many of the things are getting surfaced which points that our forces are overly glorified and lacks discipline, not among jawans but among officers, may be ima and nda discipline and strictness are restricted to movies only, they might be having daru party everynight.

shine superiors shoes for what? state funds for polishing shoes. why then even arm them with tavor, give them shoe polish.

Contrary to regulations, I assume. The man would have been within his rights to refuse. Where is his chain of command in all of this?

This is a typical media bull-shit that causes confusion, an artilce written by a dumb journalist. Shukla is a constable from the CRPF and not an NSG cdo, and he went missing from 144 CRPF Battalion, which has been wrongly refered to as a regiment.

Some facts:-
- Mr. Shukla, was a CRPF constable who was returned to his unit from the NSG for insubordination.
- The NSG is not deployed in J&K, so why the hell is his wife asking the NSG about him. She should speak to the CRPF or his parent unit.

- Mr. Shukla, had been deputed as the orderly/ batman of the the Marol unit OC (Marol is in Andheri (E), Mumbai).
- The job of a batman is like that of an officer's buddy. He ensures that the officers admin requirements are taken care of, which includes cleaning his kit, collecting his laundrty from the unit dhobi (washerman) etc.
- Shukla, would have refused and got the shot end of the stick from his JCO/NCO (who are from the army). Shukla then created a rukus in the NSG HQ with his allegations and running to the media.

The unit was celebrating the raising Day of the CRPF in the 1st week of November. A man like Mr. Shukla has most probably deserted his unit and his family is faking it, that is why they have gone to the media again. One just does not dissappear from a unit.

A deserter's family does not get any benifits like pension etc, and he is liable to face jail time.
