Government tried their level best from Amritsar to Lahore but it was neither feasible nor worked. Later on In pressure of Congress, left parties and under tremendous pressure of 175 families after 2-3 days of negotiation. They saved 200 odd passengers.

I would have done the same in that scenario. 200 passengers were Indian and that was related with country too.

Why ?

No one can do anything. It's related with Surgical attack. Even after Mumbai attack, We didn't retaliated. Nuke, Diplomacy, Defence capability are 3 reasons.

Pakistan will launch Nuke BM and all will be destroyed.

But now we are working on Cold doctrine to tackle that.

IMO, If such hijack will happen again any Government will not negotiate. There is difference between 1999 and 2011.

any police men in amritsar could have atleast fired a shot to the tyres using the victorian era .303s.
there are many army units in amritsar and rest of punjab any one could have shot the planes tyres so that atleast it could not be flown through run way.And 5 tangos with 9mm berettas are not gonna to massacre 200 people in a split second

The NSG which is trained for hostage evacuation are not present in Punjab. They need to be flown in from Delhi. IN 2008 it took 9 hrs ..Imagine what would have been the time taken in 1999.

No matter what NDA gov could have done, In any case 200 passengers would have died if we stopped negotiation.

I would have launched 1,000 Missiles after any attack on India but it's me but government has to consider lots of factors.

No Air deccan, no KF, no Jet Airways, no Indigo, no Goair..nothing..nada...

Good ol Indian Airlines or Air India.

It was all round failure of govt to let plane even reach kandahar. Once that happened only solution was to release terrorists. They didn't even do anything afterwards.

Could have atleast injected bastard terrorists with some drug that turned poisonous after 72 hrs so that they would have gotten nothing and we would have gotten 99% victory.

In Amritsar -- Eventually, a fuel tanker was dispatched and instructed to block the approach of the aircraft. As the tanker sped towards the aircraft, air traffic control radioed the pilot to slow down, and the tanker immediately came to a stop. This sudden stop aroused the hijackers' suspicion and they forced the aircraft to take off immediately, without clearance from air traffic control. The aircraft missed the tanker by only a few feet and flew away

Planes with out tyres won't few coz they have to roll out through runways which is impossible except if it is a hollywood or kollywood movie .
Didn't you knew that "NSG was stuckk in the traffic of amritsar thats only why they were unable to reach airport in time".Even if they were in delhi they would be probably comin in boeings not in Vapities.so 9 hours is not at all valid .
even if NSG arrived in time and tangos started emptying the 9mms do you think the security forces in airport wil wait till the last bullet of tangos so that they could be caught with out any fire fight and could be send to the same jail where Mr.kasab is living peacefully????

they would have killed 200 people how ? they didn't even have 200 bullets...ie assuming they would kill in 1 shot.
