Before Surgical Strikes people questioned;

Can we kill terrorists in their camps?

We know the answer now. As you know a plan was hatched to kill Dawood but is reported to have been stopped at last minute. I hope one day we get those 2 mofos but in the mean time wont underestimate our SFs capability in doing it.
Without overseas battle experience

Lack of overseas battle experience..Our government hand over Masood Azhar..Our top Army Generals failed to play any role.. and still begging to that "Country with paper tiger Army" for International sanction..

Friends, PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS IN ALL POSSIBLE WAYS.

Folks, if you think that @YouTube's decision to cancel @delhidefence's channel is unfounded, do let them know via messages on various platforms. Thank you for your support and commitment to indigenization.

Makes me to think how they end up winning so many competitions internationally.

And the answer is simple.Save the funds to train the 0.5% and send them for competitions.

All show..No go!!
As I said, pomp and false bravado are the standard operating procedures of communist regimes. Soviets started the whole charade and Chinis and NOKOs perfected it.

What we really need is at least 1-2 Brigades of Infantry specialised for marine warfare structured around the US marine corps...
Indeed ! Our country has a very big coastline, and Marine model is a very good model to follow.

As per me, Marines are the best all terrian, and fully self sufficient fighting force formation in the world (non SF).
They have forces like MARSOC, Scout Sniper Program,
MEU(Marine expeditionary unit)....which are the best in world and very good models to follow...

There is an unpublished saying in USA ..."If you want to learn a trade, join the Army...If you want to learn to fight..Join the Marines"..

Firstly, you need a big budget to keep a expeditionary unit.Requires a lot of training and different equipment. The current formation is poorly trained.

Secondly,in the Indian case the Marines would never become what they are in US coz of the simple reason that we are dealing with a internal problem more than external and all of our fights are on the himalayas.

I doubt a day would come when a Infantry unit will be handing over the LOC duties to a Marine unit.

Our policies and sissy leadership including the current one can never take strong military decisions of the kind even Indra Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi took forget about comparing with the US.

We are beggars for justice.I know i am going to hurt many people here but its a fact.We are literary begging to get justice against Hafeez Saed.

We did nothing when parliament was attacked and when IC 814 was hijacked or even 26/11.

I am apolitical.I dont do BJP and Congress shit coz i know both lack balls. The only good thing is that BJP cares for the welfare of the soldiers.

So we should aim to defend our islands properly against a growing China trying to increase its influence.

We practically need no more that 2 brigades or maximum 3 under 1 division.

It should also contain a SF and a mini AF under the Navy for CAS.

Attack helis,A 10s,other helis etc or Osprey would be welcome.

It will require a big budget which i highly doubt we are capable of.

IIRC, we had a discussion about the same, some pages back. They win these competitions, because the tasks are based on simulations, and they train a group precisely for that, to make other forces to be in awe of their Army. But real life scenarios are a lot more different from these created scenarios, where a soldier should be ready and willing to actually spill blood, and I don't see the chinks are ready to do that. Their only point in mind is 'intimidation'.

No wonder , these guys are bunch of cowards. I wanna watch them running away with tail b/w their legs after fierce gun battle with IA.
Its a dream for every Nationalist Indian. Hope it realizes soon.

Just read this critique (rant?) by Saikat Datta on the handling of building intervention at EDI Pampore in 2016:

https://scroll.in/article/804082/de...n-raise-urgent-questions-about-tactics-vision

In February 21, three men from the India Army’s elite Special Forces lost their lives while trying to evict two terrorists from Pampore’s Entrepreneurship Development Institute in the Kashmir valley. The deaths of Captain Pawan Kumar, Captain Tushar Mahajan and Lance Naik Om Prakash are tragic, but also raises several questions that urgently need answers.

Officers among the Rashtriya Rifles formations, a force that is permanently situated in Jammu and Kashmir for counter insurgency operations, said that several inexplicable decisions were taken during the Pampore operation that led to the sudden rise in casualties.

“In any hostage rescue operation in a multi-storied building, it is key that the commandos enter the building from multiple entry points simultaneously to achieve surprise,” said a senior Special Forces army officer in the area. “In this case the team commander of 10 Para (SF) had requested for time to plan the operation and ensure a simultaneous multiple entry into the EID building, but this was denied by the senior commanders.” The officer requested anonymity since he is not authorised to speak.

An officer in the Rashtriya Rifles formation deployed under Victor Force (the formation dedicated for operation in the Kashmir Valley region) confirmed this. “Ideally, the men should have cordoned the area and conducted the operation in day light,” he said. The rush into the building at night, he contended, “can be dangerous and this probably cost Pawan his life”.

Tactical error

Most Special Forces veterans who are familiar with such operations pointed out that entering a building from the top is a standard precaution that is taken along with a simultaneous multiple-entry to gain tactical advantage. “If take the higher ground, you have the tactical advantage and as you rush in using multiple entry points, you overwhelm the enemy,” said a former SF veteran, who retired as a Lieutenant General a few years ago.

The fact that a helicopter was not used to land the SF team on the roof has also perplexed many SF veterans. “A dedicated squadron of Advanced Light Helicopters is usually kept at the disposal of the SF teams in Udhampur,” the former General pointed out. ”They could have been used to land the team on the roof. This was done during the 26/11 operations in Mumbai at Chabad House.”

Several other officers who are familiar with the Pampore operation agreed that the lives of Captain Kumar, Mahajan and Lance Naik Om Prakash could have been saved if these tactics had been followed. While 10 Para (SF) took the lead in trying to flush out the terrorists, a team from 9 Para (SF) was rushed in to aid their operations. This team also did not intervene from the roof or use multiple entry points, leading to another casualty.

Its not a rant.

Its the truth.Higher ups are to be blammed.I have written about this many times here as some people always bring this op to criticise Para SF.

After this op there was a big change in the tactics of dealing with such ops.

But don't you think this incident highlights a worrying element- the complete "night blindness" of Indian forces, particuarly of the SFs. The RR officer says the ops should've been conducted in the day light, surely this gives an equal advantadge to the terrorists?

Western SFs almost exclusively operate at night, during 2003 Iraq investigations top tier NATO SF teams would go "hunting" conducting dozens of raids in the darkness only and would rest during the day. We've seen many times that security forces in J&K call off operations during the night time this gives the enemy time to slip away and it's concerning that Indian SFs aren't getting up to speed in night time CQB, this should be the ideal time to carry out ops.
