Philosophy lecture..yawn!
So you have no idea about the school also and you spent time with SF...mmmmm!!!

Why would i have a problem with infantry being praised when my old man was a infantry officer having served with some of the units you talk about.

Infantry wont thrash Para sf but Garuds and marcos which i was reluctant to share.

My friend in ghatak had the privelage of being in CIJWS and HAWS and was in CBS in 2006 or 07 when he had the oppurtunity to train with Garuds in CBS.

I wont share what happened but he wasnt impressed.

You guys have no idea what happens in such schools when the SF from other units come and train. You guys think all the SF go to this school and they become the best when some of them even find it really hard to just survive. At a time when their instructors are Para guys.

The Infantry guys or Para guys train in this school for a deployment..other SF guys train to increase their skill.

Is it hard to get?..One will be practically using the skill..the other would go back to south india and no practise.

ALL marcos dont do HAWS...or desert warfare school.

First get good knowledge about SF,their deployments and training and then you would understand.
Buddy, I work with MOD and PMO directly. I have been to several of those schools and I am well aware of the things that happen.

As said, MARCOS and GARUDs even now are actively deployed in Africa and near by regions.

Garuds are a slightly different bunch, their first leg of training of 72 weeks is basic infantry training, at this stage a Garud's skill level is similar to that a hardened infantry man. A Garud during this phase still has about 3 more years of training before they are fully labeled a SF operative. So if your friend came across a few Garuds who weren't impressive, don't worry they'd be weeded out by the time their training is done. Just as a Para SF probie needs many more years of training to be a true SF operative.

So what if all Marcos don't go to HAWS, it is not their mandate, they only need a few platoons trained in these areas, Last we checked the naval war is to be fought along enemy coastlines which are quite far away from the Northern, Eastern and Northwestern frontiers.

Also your silliness shows when you say that Para SF train for deployment but Garuds and Marcos train for skill. MARCOS almost goes out everyday even in known anti piracy ops. They are also active in Kashmir. Garuds will also be part of ops in Kashmir which will do them good. Para SF is a Tier-1 formidable force and off course they wrote the handbook as far as Indian SF is concerned but to disrespect the sacrifice made by the Garud who lost his life fighting till his last breath the pigs at Pathankot. Garuds are also quite busy with anti-naxal ops, they don't do the killing but they have done many a hot extraction of wounded men. Also by dismissing these men to a second rate breed; you dismiss the training imparted to them by Para SF, SG, NSG instructors.

Why do you imagine that Garuds and Marcos are just sitting around pulling lice out of each other's hair? They train, when they are not training they are rotated.

When it's time to kill, a bullet from an experienced operator is just as likely to kill as that from a ragtag militia pig.

What f@@@king Shiite. Indian para did all the reccee themselves. Infact 3 soldiers inflitrated the ruf camp. Lived inside it. Gathered Intel and then came out to be part of the assault.

The Sas however did take part in a separate rescue mission a few weeks before in SL. But not even comparable to the scale and complexity of op khukri

I am still not convinced by any arguement over any SF having teams within unit for a particular kind of terrain..We shall see with time.

The thing you call silly is actually experience which leads to developing new tactics.

Regarding Garuds i said they are relatively new and i didnt criticise them.I again say i will be pleasently surprised when you manage to show any photos to back up your claim.

The Japanese PM's visit to Ahmedabad with PM Modi- one of THE most unique SPG deployments I have seen so far:

SPG took 4 (as opposed to the usual 2) armoured protection vehicles for the PM; 2x BMW 760Li and 2x Toyota Land Cruisers as well as 5-6 of their new Toyota Fortuner escort vehicles (usually this role is given to their TATA Safaris for out of NCR duties, perhaps the Toyota Fortuner is replacing them in this role) and the typical TATA Safari based ECM vehicle/Jammer.

Also the first time I have ever seen police bike escorts given to the PM, this may be a ceremonial purpose and requested by the Japanese (?).

If I'm not mistaken, the bikes are a part of Gujarat state's VVIP cover. They had bought a few Harley's for that purpose.

These bikes belong to the Military Police which further cements the idea that this was a protocol request by the Japanese.

A MARCOS was injured in Taj Hotel 26/11 operation and was even awarded SC. This was complete news to me and I cant even find his citation anywhere.

There is something black in the lentils.

Ex-Navy commando, disabled after 26/11, finishes 72km Ladakh marathon to prove he is fit
"After I was shot, doctors had given up on me. But I hung on for five months in the hospital and recovered, although my hearing was impaired," said Teotia, from Bhatola village in Bulandshahr.

Some articles on Marcos on 26/11

The MARCOS heard the staccato bursts of fire echoing down the corridors. ‘They’re coming from the direction of the kitchen area,’ Kudiyadi exclaimed. The kitchen complex formed the second link between the heritage wing and the new Taj Tower. The team rushed towards it, guns at the ready. Kudiyadi showed them the way. The group cautiously approached the kitchen area. There was a sound that grew louder as they came closer. It was the trilling of dozens of cell phones: frantic, unanswered calls to the fifteen victims who lay contorted on the floor. Most of those victims were uniformed Taj staff, shot while fleeing, looking for cover. The green stone tiles were splattered with blood. At least seven persons were alive and seriously injured, writhing in pain on the floor. An injured lady was trapped beneath the corpse of a dead person. She looked at a commando and wailed weakly, ‘Take her off me.’

The commandos tensed as they approached one of the kitchen doors. Three gunmen were walking past. They saw the MARCOS. One of them whirled around and fired a burst from his hip and threw a grenade. The commandos took cover. The grenade did not explode. The terrorists fled through the numerous exits from the kitchen. ‘Evacuate the injured out of here,’ the team leader whispered to Kudiyadi.

The firefight told the commandos that they were up against heavily armed terrorists. But they also came upon another realization. The hotel was full of civilians. The MARCOS were all specialists: in communications, sharp shooting and handling explosives. But now, in the labyrinthine maze of the dimly lit hotel, they needed only one speciality: nerves of steel. They could not afford to be trigger-happy. As the commandos began shifting the wounded out of the corridor. Their priority had swiftly changed from neutralizing the terrorists to evacuating civilians.

More commandos were needed. The task was simply too large for eight men, however well trained. They radioed their chief of operations in the hotel lobby for reinforcements as they began helping the wounded out of the corridors.

By around 5 a.m., sixteen more MARCOS had arrived at the Taj. This enhanced force now split into three teams. Two teams were deployed to evacuate injured civilians, the third searched for the terrorists. This third team reached the dining room of the Chambers, which had earlier served as the sanctuary for the civilians. The shiny cream-coloured granite corridor was brightly lit, but the room inside was dark. As the team entered the hall, there was deathly silence. Then they heard a soft but distinctive metallic rasp. It was the safety lever of an AK-47 being taken off. Gun flashes lit the dark hall. The terrorists inside the room fired at the commandos as they entered. One commando was hit as he ran for cover, a bullet entered his shoulder and another lodged itself in a spare AK-47 magazine tucked on his bulletproof vest. The MARCOS withdrew from the hall and evacuated their comrades.

The MARCOS’ action was brief, but critical. They had saved nearly 200 hotel guests from certain slaughter. They had pushed the terrorists back into the Palace wing away from the Taj Tower, which they could have used for another siege. And if this was any consolation, the attackers had a depleted arsenal. It was a small victory in the dark hours of 27/11.

. A gunfight broke out between the four terrorists and the commandos. The terrorists "broke contact", retreating into "The Chambers Library" that faced the Gateway of India. The commandos pursued them into the library where a second gunfight broke out and two commandos were injured. The commandos retrieved their injured and covered what they thought was the only entrance into the library.

The commandos now focused on rescuing the hapless guests trapped in the various function rooms. The MARCOS, usually deployed for the safety of oil installations or to counter pirates on the high seas, had reached the Taj by a series of coincidences. Their existence was revealed to Maharashtra chief secretary Johny Joseph by a naval officer friend. It allowed Joseph to place an urgent and specific request to the Navy: a request that was swiftly acceded to and was the game-changer that night. One hundred and sixty five persons died in the 26/11 attacks. But for the timely MARCOS intervention, the toll, as we know it, could have been far, far higher. It was the single most heroic act on the night of the 26/11 attacks

@aditya g Yep, I thought the same. According to official story, MARCOS never made contact with the terrorists. So either they did made the contact or he got injured doing some other operation the government doesn't want to acknowledge.
Nope. A 8 member MARCOS team made first contact. And probably one of the most critical actions taken in the Taj before NSG could come.

1. A huge Cache of weapons was denied to the terrorist
2. Saved countless guests including some VIPs
3. Forced Terrorist to change their plans

Thanks. This must be Teotia. Lentils are yellow only

Barely 8 MARCOS to enter Taj Hotel. Even when they were joined by 16 more only 1 team of 8 could actually hunt for terrorists in that massive building complex.

Incredible stuff ....
