MAJOR JOHN DANIEL

His badges and medals speaks volumes for him
From upper left - (Para Wings Mess Badge , Name Plate , Ladakh Scouts , Balidaan , National Security Guard Special Action Group Badge)
From upper right - (Combat Free Fall Specialist , Medals , GOC Commendation Card , 150+ jumps star badge)

PS- He had also done his deep and combat diving course from the Diving School KochiView attachment 18910
Can someone provide more info on the major? is he still in active service? is he SF or Marcos?

Even though I asked a question, I am surprised that it is 100% CAPF. One would have thought at least the officers were from the Army, or ex-Army.
It's a 100% police unit bro, the senior officers are all from IPS and the rest of the ranks are from the CAPFs, quite a few seem to be from the CRPF (one former SPG chief went on to become the CO of the CoBRAs IIRC).

Don't really see that IA officers would be that suited for this role- close protection is not really a speciality in the armed forces, the SPG does all of its training in house and for the role it performs it makes sense to recruit from the civil forces/police.

The world over Units like the SPG are Civilian / Police units. Why should India be any different.

PS. What so special about officers? Alot of the time the Senior NCO's/JCOs of a unit have more experience and competence than officers. (speaking of the Army here)
