I think its T 91 which we have 1000 in numbers.
Oh lord,Look carefully at the receiver section of First image and compare it with the image posted by me.

T-91 is actually variant of AR-15 with some modifications in gas system so it has AR-15 receiver.

In this image Shatrujeet has mentioned that this weapon is not M16 but actually it is AR-18 assault rifle.I hope someone from Shatrujeet would correct it.

In fact I'm little surprised we actually had this in our Arsenal. This weapon is often called 'Poor Man's AR' as it was cheaper to produce this (in some cases, even cheaper than Kalashnikov) because majority of parts in it are made by stamping procedure (even hammer is a stamped sheet) except for several key parts such as barrel, bolt, gas piston, springs, trigger and parts of trigger group, magazine lock, bolt carrier, firing pin, furniture such as handguard and pistol grip, receiver holding pins, gas block and front iron sight post and cocking handle.

Japanese Self Defense Forces' Howa rifles (later 5.56 x 45mm NATO variants) are actually licensed produced variation of this weapon with some modification.
Edit: I did a typo here in first line by adding a 'not' before M16.Correct line is this.

Is the headset worn by the operator above just a noise cancellation headset for Range work or an actual Comm Set?

T 91 is used by special units of some police units like Assam Police and other NE police forces and also maybe with Octopus or some of the other South Indian police units.

VZ 58 was bough first hand from Czech..atleast thats what a Czech website claims.

After trial production and further testing and evaluation in 1959, the weapon was finally approved for serial production which started at the end of 1959. From 1959 to 1984, when the production of the Sa vz. 58 was terminated, almost 920,000 pieces were made in total and the weapon was exported to many countries around the world. The vz. 58 is still the issued rifle of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Cyprus, Angola, Ethiopia, Guinea, Libya, Mozambique, Somalia, Tanzania, India, Iraq, Cuba and Guatemala.

Naa..It was inducted only in 1996 or around that time as per two operators i had talked to and one guy from 4th Para even said it was bought from Israel and said it was called M58 instead of Vz.Also, back in late 80s commando units of Para were equipped with Bulgarian Aks or Type 56 or limited number of Hungarian ones.

If they were, you wouldn't know about it anyway. If ITBP is there protecting the embassy, I'm sure an SF element must've gone as well.

My friend gave me some exclusive pics, which he did get from his source View attachment 18580 MARCOS
If this is an Indian SF unit, why is he wearing what looks to be a "friendship badge" (given out during bi-lateral exercises usually) and not just an Indian badge? It doesn't make sense to have a friendship badge during live operations and in fact I would think that would contravene certain uniform codes, especially in a ISAF/NATO base- every nation's soldiers would have to be properly identified.

Indian Special forces were deployed in Afganistan, Para SF for sure, check out Dron M Acharya profile in Quora. He was a SF operator, he has narrated a story of deserts in foreign country. He is quite a character by looking at his responses to the questions. Now the account is blocked but you can still see the content.
